Description Ok all, this is my take on a Digital Drawing Tutorial. I'm not so sure about this one... that I explained the stages well enough, but I figured I'd post it up and see if it helped anyone.

If you like it and want to continue on with your piece, head over to my Digital Coloring Tutorial for a few more hints. [link]

This tutorial was very helpful and filled with a lot of useful information. I have just started working with a new style of art and this has definitely helped me along the way. If you would like to see the first piece I have tried using this tutorial, it can be found here [link] . Having smooth line art is a bit more difficult than I originally thought, but your tutorial has done a pretty good job of explaining it. Thank you for making such a lovely tutorial available to aid artists like me.

Nice tutorial, Juggy. I may even be reffering to it soon if I get hold of a copy of photoshop any time soon. As for tablets, I have one, a tiny little budget Wacom A6 job, but I rarely use it as it's too small and I've gotten so used to drawing/painting with a mouse it actually feels weird to use, cause it's not really like using a pencil or pen... still. Practise makes perfect. If I can get myself an A4 tablet sometime I think I'd give it a better go.

I've been meaning to ask what a good canvas size for a digital piece is. Guess this answers my question! Next question I guess would be how you get such smooth lines? If I try to ink with zoom less than 200%, my lineart is always subpar and zooming in closer than that really affects the line flow. Is this just something I have to deal with or is there a solution (e.g. get a better computer).

Having a big monitor helps a little... but also getting familiar with the pen tool will help oodles.

I'm planing on posting up a digital inking tutorial that explains that more - with inking the clean lines are a must.

Nice tut. Someday I'll get off my lazy behind and make some tutorials too. Seems like I can never make the time...but if I never take the time, I'll never have the time, like the guy in Matrix said...right?

Anyway, babbling. Good lesson and words of advice.

Very nice, Juggy!

I actually pulled out my tablet and tried to ink using it, but I just can't seem to find the right brush settings to have it not look like ass. Any chance you could explain a bit more about the brush settings themselves if you ever do this again?

*can't seem to find any setting that allows the brush to taper/fade when the pen is lifted* *sadpanda*

Check your presure sensitivity on the brush as well as adjusting the flow will help with that.
