Description
Ok, well I finally got a hold of Sharby and he sent me the link to his spidey textures and mask. This was about a few weeks ago. Upon getting the mask and textures I decided it was time to take my texturing to a new level. There is a plethora of super heroes available out there for Poser, but most are based on the P4 model... which in my opinion, was a good model for its time, but today... it sucks. I decided to try my hand at creating textures for DAZ's Millennium figures (Victoria 3/4, Michael 3, David 3, Freak, etc).
What you see here is my result. Granted these are not entirely mine... The spidey textures (and Venom's body) are Sharby's, the Mr Fantastic, Galactus, Cap, Mystique, Elektra, and Iron Man were all freebies from Animotions, but the remainder are mine. But even those freebies I decided to improve upon. Each texture I used has a mesh-like look added to the colored areas. This mesh was created by tiling a shape I drew, similar to the mesh used on the Mr Fantastic uniform. I feel these meshes add something extra to the characters. I carried this mesh over to the bump maps and displacement maps as well. (its unfortunate you cant quite see the difference in this render... maybe I will post some detail shots in my scraps).
I started by exporting Freak's head to Zbrush and from there I modified the mesh to create Thing's impressive brow and chin (and lack of ears). I then took to modifying the free Mr. Fantastic uniform to remove the chest part and add a rocky texture to Thing. From there I moved to Daredevil. I used the V3 Superhero outfit (by Predatron) (Yes, DD is V3, not M3) and textured it with my own textures to add the 2 D's to his chest and give it a nice, well, textured look.
Next I took on some of the easier characters, such as Ghost Rider and Red Skull, since these guys didnt really need textures, I just clothed them and used Bonez's skull for the morphs. I took Sharby's Symbiote mask texture and modified it to become the Venom mask you see here. Next I set about creating Rhino. I used an image I shot of a piece of white leather from my S.C.A. leather kit and tweaked it in Pshop, then threw it over the Unimesh template and poof... Leathery Rhino skin. The horns are M3 Horns from DAZ. Opacity was modified to only one.
Black Cat was a combinition of V3 Body suit and V3 Super Hero outfit parts... All retextured. Doc Ock, Angel, Yellow Jacket, Colossus & Wolvy textures were all greated from the ground up. My first attempt at actually creating a costume from scratch. Absorbing man was greated by taking a unimesh texture and overlaying the rocky texture I used for Thing (sans color) and blending it. His pants are the M3 Gangster suit (same as Red Skull's outfit). Punisher is the same Punisher I used in my comic cover... sans vest. Hulk is simply a recolored Freak texture, similar to the recolored David texture I used for Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler uses the morphs and vest from Animotions.
Last but not Least, The Storm siblings... Johnny uses the same texture as Reed, but with a pwEffect... same process as Sue... but she uses pwGhost. Oh, Silver Surfer is an untextured M3 with a nice and shiny reflection map... same map used on Colossus' skin and Doc Ock's tenticles.
I am still moving down my list of characters... with new characters added each day. As of this posting I have a list of about 36 characters still left to complete. If anyone has a request, I will certinally give it a try. Thanks for looking.
Oh, the background is Urbal Sprawl by Stonemason.

Wow, sorry for the super late response, your comment got burried in the new "Stacks" and combined with my rare apparences here... well better late than never...
I did have them on my list, however, both require parts that I did not have at the time (and still dont have... but I now have the skill do model them). ive since moved up to M4 and V4 and dont use the 3rd gen figures very much anymore, and since they (like the difference between M3/v# and P4 figures) have a different UV layout, Im probably gonna have to start all over... Though these are still useable for anyone using M3/V3... so Who knows what the future will bring for my list of characters...

REally cool, i'm a Marvel and DAZ/Studio addict too, and have ever difficult to find something don't built for P4 Man.

Thanks for the comment!
Its pretty hard to find anything quality that is made for M3 and V3 or newer. Thats why I started creating these myself. All you need is a skin texture or template and photoshop (or some other program that uses layers, such as Gimp or Painter).
I am working on packaging these to release, but school is kinda getting in the way but there are some others out there that have stuff you can download (though many are just a texture you need to apply yourself, ie no MAT pose files included). Check out *Yunners or devetercotton: (I know Yunners still has stuff in his gallery, but Im not sure about Petercotton). Ill see if I can round up some links for some other webpages for you to check out as well.

Thanks,
Im glad you like. I spent a good deal of time teaching myself how to create these textures (far too much if you ask my wife). Im thinking I may post some detailed shots of each character here real soon.
Thanks for the as well!
