Hello people! I was trying to find a way of getting decent and varied colours from a greyscale image and I thought I would document my findingsΒ
. Again this may be wrong, but I thought I would share anyway. Take with a pinch of salt (like everything)Β . I just thought it was a quick and effective process.

Can you do one for traditional drawing/drawing with a pencil and paper? Β I don't do digital art anymore! Β I used to, but my program doesn't have squat and I can't get anything else because I have a school computer. Β But this is very helpful. Β

Thats a very broad question. Do you mean use of the technology? Or actual painting? Because if its just getting better, that just comes in time with practice and learning. I'm obviously still learning myself lol.Β

The main purpose of the question was to figure out what kind of technology you use. How did you start? What Programms do you use? What where the first things you painted and how did you do it?
Since I myself want to start with digital painting I really need to gather as much information as I can, bevore jumping into the fray.

I just use photoshop and a wacon cintiq 22hd. First things I painted where whatever I fancied. But as time went on I tried to learn specific things and understand certain techniques. Best tip is to just draw as much as possible and study. Applied studies to your work.Β

Yeah that's fine lol. It took like 2 minutes to do, I wasnt super focused about doing a correct cylinder, it was to explain something else.

Cheers, im glad it helped! Colour dynamics is awesome for getting all the subtle hue shifts quickly. Thats the only reason i use it. it will look messy but its easy to fix up rather than try and do it all TOTALLY manually.Β

This is gonna help me a lot. I usually had problems when painting. I can paint very well on a practice sphere, but on other work is where I struggle at for some reason.
