Description Yes, I must admit that I did not feel very much at ease when I took this shot, with just some yards and a little bit of electric wire separating me from this massy fellow, no longer in sunshine mood, as on the other picture which I submitted this morning. Do not blame me for him not being quite in focus - that was due to my nerves, even if I did use the zoom.
Taken at Lomprez/Belgium.

He's very well formed bull. He could to tear apart a house without breaking a sweat.

Usually bulls are calm and docile creatures, but might snap at unfamiliar objects, strangers even their handlers when in a bad mood, scared or in doubt of their masters intentions.
Bulls take their role as herd leader and guardian very seriously eliminating all potential threats.

He is a gorgeous specimen...so muscular & powerful looking. Reminds me of the depictions of the Taurus Zodiac sign.
(LOL) There must be some Happy cows in his pasture.

Actually there were no cows at all. I suppose they get their share in a more controlled fashion ...

I forget people that people who live in colder climates (where it snows) don't keep the bull in the paster with the cows year round. I remember my husband being shocked that my parents cows were calving around Christmas time. It's too uncomfortable to be pregnant in the Texas heat during the Summer for both woman & beast. I planned all my kids for the Winter months when we lived there.

Wow, that thing's a beast! I wouldn't be surprised to see it rear up onto its back legs and go all Minotaur on you.

Fortunately this sort is pretty quiet! No Spanish fighting bull. I would not have dared to go anywhere near one of those. Not even with an electric wire ...

Two more things:

Many thanks for all favs!

I do not really know how tall, perhaps 1,50 meters. I did not go anywhere near him to measure him ...

That is a huuuuuge bull lol. I wouldn't have even noticed the focus if you hadn't said something. I'm kind of curious what this might look like in black and white. I'm not sure why, I just think his muscles would stand out even more. I like it just how it is though.

You must have got outta there like a whirlwind once you got that shot! A little too close for comfort methinks - and an excellent shot, but not worth your life! lol!

jchanders In reply to AnnaKirsten [2007-05-29 03:21:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, I was not in the pasture. I never go into pastures where there is a bull - we were taught that very clearly up in Schleswig-Holstein in my young years!

AnnaKirsten In reply to jchanders [2007-05-29 09:46:45 +0000 UTC]

The only time I've been near a bull is if he's tethered! I once photographed a cow that was sauntering down a road in my direction, and having at one time milked 67 cows twice a day, I wasn't bothered.. But this particular one didn't like the camera and started running towards me looking quite threatning! I shooed her and waved my arms vigorously and thankfully that did the trick! I got a pretty good photo, but I don't have a clue where it is now!

And I thought the last one was daunting! It looks like he's had a rather swift mood change for the worset, here. I don't like the look of those horns pointing straight at me. You're a brave man - I wouldn't trust a bit of electric wire to stop him if he charged..!

As for the focus, it's still clear. Admirable photography.
