I just hate that I haven't made fanart for this band before. They're my obsession, I've never been this invested in something before, I love everything about it to death. I actually attempted drawing Rabbit last year but it was TERRIBLE, trust me on that so I guess I've been afraid to try again. I hate messing up on drawings when it's of something i care about

From an amazing band called Steam Powered Giraffe. I bet none of my watchers know them, so I'd like to introduce you guys. they're a group of pantomime, steampunk-esque, robot characters named The Spine, Hatchworth, and Rabbit like in my drawing. they have a whole backstory and universe, and so far have 4 studio albums, a video game soundtrack album, covers, singles, live albums, DVDs, lots of music videos.. and yet they are one of those obscure bands that only some people have even heard of, nevermind joined the community.
I discovered them through their most popular YouTube video, a song of theirs called Honeybee. Take a listen and a watch, it captured my interest as soon as the video started playing so maybe it will for you as well www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojYK6C… I was hooked instantly and a couple days after watching it, I checked out some of their other things, and it took off from there. Many days of binge watching.. I first watched Honeybee in Feb 2015 and I still binge watch SPG!
the band has so many genres, their first two (Album One and The 2cent Show) have a lot of folk and vaudeville type things, their third album (Mk III) gets more modern with pop and rock with a touch of folk, then their newest album The Vice Quadrant is a space opera. idk how else to describe it than that tbh....

The Spine is a silver robot with a sort of western style about him, he's a gentlemen, rather serious, handsome. He pulls the group together since he's the most mature
Hatchworth is a mustachio'd bot with a bowler hat, he's very quirky, odd, and has many interesting things to say. For awhile he was my least favorite bot, but now he's been growing on me
And Rabbit... she's always been my favorite. She's played by a transgender woman, and Rabbit also used to be male so had to be transitioned. So in a lot of their videos (anything before 2014) you'll see a male Rabbit. She's made of oxidizing copper (though currently porcelain with copper sidings) and is the most broken of the trio, she breaks down on stage a lot and has to be repaired. She's also a little bit nuts! and her design changes ALL the time, so there's many many makeup phases for you to get into, I know that I'm in love with like.... a dozen

The past couple months, since late August, I've been dealing with a lot of new knowledge of the people behind SPG. it's been a lot on me, and I've been figuring out what to do about it. I loved them so much, they were such a big part of my life, that now that I no longer have those feelings for them, I feel empty inside. I wish it wasn't the case, but I've discovered a lot of stuff that was covered up during my time as a fan. I wish the SPG fandom luck, but I don't think the band will get any better in the state it is in now. I thank PiranhaPunk for exposing me to who the Bennett twins and Steve really are. I'll miss the band, and always remember the time when SPG meant the whole world to me, the feelings I had when I saw their concert, when I met them, when I put on my first SPG shirt... it was all great!
