i completely understand what you mean! there's not a single SPG song that isn't special to me, even the instrumental music they play during their live shows and in their videos like the SPG updates. I honestly can't imagine my life without this group of wonderful people. for awhile I was falling out of my obsession, they were just my go-to band for music, but now they're all I think of through the day.. i know it seems a bit much
and before SPG, i wasn't ever obsessed with things, just sort of invested in them. it feels soo good to have an outlet for my emotion, and SPG is just that.
i gave those McFly songs a listen, they seem like a lovely band and i enjoyed the songs, but I don't feel drawn to it like with the bands I'm into. probably because all of them are fantasy based, like virtual bands with stage names and not real people? thank you for showing me them though!

i hardly ever obsess as well :> I think SPG is so special though. They put so much into their work-- so much emotion, so much imagination, so much time... and everything they do comes out so beautiful, and clever, and enjoyable. And I'm glad you gave McFly a shot, and so quickly too It's okay if yu dont really like them, everyone has different tastes. Btw, i saw that you met SPG!! That's so cool! Did yu talk to them much? Were they nice? Were they in or out of character? Sry, thats a lot of questions...     And if you have any more music recommendations for me, that would be awesome; I have looked at  some bands "similar" to SPG in the hopes that i would find another gold mine, but no luck with Professor Elemental and Abney Park. Have yu heard of them? I like them okay, but not so much. (anyways, who needs another amazing band when there's Steam Powered Giraffe )

i'm actually pretty into Professor Elemental, i like his style and the bit of lore that i know about. he gives me a kind of doctor who feel, and i used to be a whovian! i'm trying to go to a steampunk convention in november, TeslaCon, and if i do I'd meet the professor i'm also into Gorillaz and Studio Killers, but mostly SK cause i discovered Honeybee through a playlist with their songs, so i'll always sort of cherish them. also a bit into a band called V is for Villains, after i watched them perform at AniMinneapolis. it was awesome, but none of their videos really captured my experience. all of the other music i listen to are just Spotify playlists, honestly  and I've listened to Abney Park and The Cog is Dead, but i'm not into either

okay so, my experience with meeting SPG.. immediately after the concert ended, everyone was rushed out of the big event room for a rave to start, i turned around and saw Steve Negrete focused on stuff at the sound engineer booth. if only i didn't have to leave, i could've talked with him... but it's not like i'd know what to say anyway  after i got out, a line had started for their autographs, and the line wrapped all around a long hallway, and i was in the way back. for 10-20 minutes it didn't move at all so everyone just sat on the floor, but every couple minutes we got up, moved forward, then sat back down. i was in line with my drawing for them to sign, but i couldn't finish it since i didn't have a photo reference, so only The Spine was done. there were a lot of people around me who were friends with each other, at one point i was sitting next to a group of spg fans and one of them told a cool story about The Jon from years ago, i was too shy to say something.. several people complimented my drawing, they were sweet people. eventually i was really close to the end of the line, the girl in front of me was squealing "i can see The Spine!!" but i couldn't see him
my mom came down from the hotel just in time, i don't have a phone so i wouldn't have gotten a picture if she hadn't. first i talked to Chelsea and Camille, who were SWEETHEARTS, and gladly signed my drawing. then i went up to David and Sam, who were from the beginning very open and talkative with me, they complimented my spg shirt (and David said, while kind of moving around like The Spine, "Well, I might be biased with that!" even though he was out of character, it made me smile!) and DAVID REACHED OUT HIS HAND so yeah i shook The Spine's hand... and then Sam did as well!! they were super nice and really made my experience. and Bunny was sitting next to them. YOU SEE, i have a crush on Bunny.. i already thought of a lot of things to say to her, but i ended up just giving her a bunch of compliments i could think of (that i really support what she does, that i think she's a very pretty lady, i think she's amazing with her work, etc) and with every compliment she let out a very light, soft thank you. she seemed pretty closed up, and not talkative at all. it was a bit off-putting, Bunny's always been my favorite in the band, but she didn't seem to interested in what i had to say. it's perfectly fine, Bunny's actually going through depression right now, and has admitted to not being open and quiet with people off stage. i never managed to talk to Steve, which is a real shame cause he's such a cool guy. he was on his phone or something working out plane tickets. but i got a signature from the whole group, even Steve!! prnt.sc/b72uj1 i plan to redo Rabbit's and Hatchworth's faces, so just ignore them

tldr; the line for the autographs was a long wait, but it was worth it because of my interactions with the bandmembers, who were very sweet to me. i'd love to meet them again someday!

X)   Okay, so i read it twice, and i must say that sounds like an AMAZING experience! I think i might get to meet them if i go to A-Kon 27, but i dont know for sure if i will   I do know that Bunny has been depressed lately, and i know that there's not much anyone can do except be kind when someone feels that way. I hope she feels better soon. ...I have a crush on her too...
I'll look up the bands yu mentioned soon and tell you what i think but i must be going. Thank yu for taking the time to tell me about your experience; it was a delight to read!! And i like the picture! I hope i can get a picture signed by them, that would be awesome :>

yeah it's a real shame about Bunny  she's such a lovely human being (and i can't get over her!!) i hope she gets out of this dark time soon
i hope you do as well, i've been keeping the drawing on my computer desk since i got home, and i look at it all the time and always makes me happy!

Sry it's taken me so long to reply. I checked out Studio Killers (they have really cool music videos. I liked their song "Jenny."), The Cog is Dead (i liked their song "Burn It Down"; it reminded me of music of Corpse Bride [btw have yu heard that Johnny Depp allegedly beat his wife Amber Heard?? I used to like him ....]), and V is for Villains (they're pret-ty cool!). After watching "Jenny", a video called "Caravan Place" by Lone Digger came on; I totally recommend yu watch it if yu hav'nt already. Thank yu for telling me about the bands! I already knew about and like Gorillaz; my favorite songs by them are Clint Eastwood and Superfast Jellyfish
  My sister likes this band called Mystery Skulls; yu might like to check them out, especially their music vids "Ghost" and "Freaking Out"
  I'll tell yu if i do end up going to A-Kon.
