Description
I love the intangibles.Like the smell of clean white sheets hung out to dry, like the care free innocence of cobwebs between your thighs.
I love the texture of gray skies, and clouds dipped in the melted melancholy that falls to the earth, and to my tongue, with the consistency of warm butter.
I love the thoughts of perhaps, and mishaps, and the color that's neither blue, nor gray, but is seen only when the sun casts shadows on not-so-fresh snow and the valleys of criss crossing footprints.
I love the intangibles.
Like the feeling of your skin, your kisses, your touch.
Your mind.
And your voice, that both speaks of mystery and is a mystery, that is no blessing in disguise but a Trojan horse that smells faintly of burnt, and baking, bread.
I love the sheen on an apple, which grows by the lake of fire, and brimstone, and cherry blossoms.
The sheen of the apples in your eyes, contrasted by the deep earthy black of your pupils.
I reject the texture of denim and lace, although I relish the prospect of counting the threads and observing the weave.
I love the idea of reality, but I push it from the banks of my mind like a ship fashioned from a loin cloth. Doomed from a lack of substance and of spirit, a ship betrayed by bright colors and beauty that is silenced with a light switch.
Intangible like your lips.
Which are tangible in physical proportions. Which are intangible for me.
I love the acrid smell of toxic matches, black matches that burn purple like your memory.
And red.
Like your bloody, bloody, nose.
I love the romance made of matchsticks.
I love the intangibles.
I wish I could touch you.
And I cannot touch you.

intangables are hard to deal with for me. they frustrate me, tho i understand how they can be sweet if at least by being bittersweet.

I really like this. I don't know wether or not it was purposeful, but even in your structure and imagery you pose a contrast between the tangible and intangible that I love. Lines like "I love the intangibles.
Like the smell of clean white sheets hung out to dry like the care free innocence of cobwebs between your thighs." The smell of clean sheets is something very tangible in our minds, but the cobwebs between your thighs is something distant and hard to imagine. These types of images set the reader up for understanding the relationship between the poems subject, the distant or unobtainable lover (I'm assuming) and the author. But, thats if I read "cobwebs between your thighs" in a literal sense. Anyhow, I'm not making much sense here, just know that this poem is great lol.

You are making lots of sense, and Im glad you captured the sense of the contradictions in the poem because they were purposeful. Generally intangiables are abstract conccepts but in this poem I used them as things that were not only physical impossibilites and abstract ideas, but physical possibilites that are just intangible to me. Im glad you caught on to that, and Im glad that you commentetd. Im mostly glad you took the time to read this! So thanks for all of the above

I have to say that this is one of the few pieces here on this site, that I can read over and over again and still be intrigued and drawn in each time I read it. This is absolutely beautiful. I love how vague the images are, and well just the imagery in general. One line stuck me the most:
"I love the thoughts of perhaps and mishaps and the color that's neither blue nor gray but is seen only when the sun casts shadows on not-so-fresh snow and the valleys of criss crossing footprints."
I was thinking to myself "I know that color!" haha. But it's mostly the imagery I get from that specific line. Completely wonderful. I'm going to add this to my favorites. Again, wonderful work!

Gabby.
Most times, the reason I like your work is because it always seems to fit whether it's nonsense to me or not.
And I mean nonsense in a good way.
Whether or not I know what you're writing about, you create images in my mind.
Now this - for me - was very different from anything else you've written because it seems to all come together. I don't know what it is.
Everything else you've written, each line just sounded nice next to the following,
this feels like it comes together like a jigsaw puzzle.
Anyways, I may seem like I'm trying to be all deep here, but this really struck me and I'm just trying to explain why. More for myself than you , actually . lol
I adore this.
