Description
I made this a while ago. It is half of a deer leg bone. The edge was ground down on a flat peice of sandstone using plenty of water to keep the bone dust out of the sandstone. This picture is of both sides of the same knife.A bone knife will cut meat and such but will not cut skin. It can peirce it but it can't cut it.

Well this bone was boiled w a very little amount of bleach in the watter then when I cut it up I scraped out all of the marrow. No other treatment necisarry. You will have more trouble keeping it from braking in use becuase of the tendancy to use it like a steel knife. No prying or hacking with this knife lol. I have never had problems with any of my bones deteriating at all. Worry more about snapping it in half . Thank you. I like the color all the deer bones came out in. It wasn't quite what I was expecting after seeing all those white bones all my life lol. It would as long as the walls are thick enough.

Well when it comes down to having to skinn something I am more likely going to be able to find a stone I can make sharp then the right kind of stone and a good bone for making a bone knife. Although I will have to try and make one sharp enough to cut skin with just to have that knowledge that is if I ever have time for such experiments. lol
