I canremember an eager tongue
and
watching glittering
eyes indulge foolishness.
That night the sky was our only
witness
to the simplest of love's crimes.
You swore on the stars
I see
holes in the sky.
Pouring out their cheap love drunken lines,
and
where I live,
we swim in deception.
No matter what you said,
I was left
below your heaven.
and I was left
with only enough to
hang defeat
on the head
of a solemn grave.
Where I was sure to
land
white flag in
hand, denying intentions
to ever love
again.
Now
we know,
that meanings are only words,
and lies
are hard to quit.
I could starve myself
from you,
if I wasn't so desperate
to feel alive.
