Personality:
Approachable; Anubis has mastered the art of being approachable despite his naturally imposing appearance and aloof demeanour. His "resting bitch face" and seemingly disinterested attitude might initially suggest he's unapproachable, but he actively works to counter this perception. Understanding the importance of creating a welcoming atmosphere, he uses subtle gestures like quick smiles, nods, and friendly greetings to put others at ease.
This goes beyond mere social kindness; it reflects his awareness of the role he plays in his interactions with people. By being available and easy to talk to, Anubis creates a space where others feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings, whether they're seeking advice or simply wanting to connect. His attentive listening and thoughtful responses further enhance his approachable mask, making him a trusted and reliable presence.

Though his approachability doesn’t come naturally, he has learned to use it to his advantage, creating an intriguing contrast that draws people in. His ability to balance being tough yet friendly has earned him a reputation as someone who is both dependable and memorable, fostering a genuine sense of connection with those around him.

Logical; Anubis always thinks carefully before speaking or acting. He assesses situations with a clear mind, ensuring that his actions are based on solid reasoning. This approach is evident in both his work as a bartender and his interactions with others. Unlike those who act on impulse or emotion, Anubis requires a well-thought-out rationale before making decisions.

He values evidence and sound reasoning over gut feelings and prefers to base his choices on facts and a thorough understanding of the situation. Whether it's deciding when to step in during a bar dispute or figuring out the best approach to a new cocktail recipe, Anubis carefully weighs the pros and cons, potential outcomes, and the best strategies to achieve his goals.

Loyal; Anubis embodies loyalty in its truest form, offering unwavering support and protection to those who have earned his trust. This loyalty is not given lightly; Anubis carefully evaluates people's actions and intentions before fully committing, ensuring his trust is well-placed. Once earned, his loyalty is nearly unbreakable, manifesting in his willingness to support, listen, and even defend his friends and loved ones.

However, Anubis's loyalty comes with a strict code—betrayal is unforgivable and results in permanent exclusion from his circle of trust. He believes that trust, once broken, cannot be mended and he does not offer second chances. His protectiveness extends to anyone within his inner circle, and he makes it clear that those who harm them are not welcome in his life. Anubis's loyalty is marked by a fierce sense of duty and clear boundaries, making him a dependable ally who takes his commitments seriously.

Dishonest; If you think he's loyal to you? You have another thing coming. Anubis excels at projecting an image of loyalty and dependability, but this is merely a façade that conceals his true nature. His primary motivation is financial gain, and he maintains his role as a trustworthy ally only as long as it benefits him. Once the money dries up, his commitment evaporates, and he is quick to betray those he pretends to support, shifting allegiances or actively working against them if it serves his interests.

Anubis's dishonesty goes beyond mere disloyalty; he adeptly uses deceit to manipulate situations for his advantage, whether by leaking information, sabotaging relationships, or turning against former allies. This duplicity makes him a dangerous figure to trust, as his loyalty is nothing more than a temporary guise that he discards when no longer profitable. His manipulation and lack of genuine allegiance highlight his fundamentally dishonest nature, making him someone who should be approached with caution and scepticism.

Melancholic; Anubis carries a deeply melancholic demeanor, marked by an underlying sadness and introspection that often hides behind his imposing exterior and aloofness. He frequently appears detached and withdrawn, burdened by unspoken sorrow or a sense of disillusionment. This melancholic nature is evident during his quiet moments of solitude, where he seems lost in thought and grappling with lingering regret or existential unease.

Despite his outward calm, Anubis’s subtle sadness influences his interactions and worldview, making him appear emotionally reserved and enigmatic. He keeps others at arm's length not out of indifference but to shield himself from further disappointment, adding complexity to his character and revealing a person who has faced significant personal trials. His melancholic disposition shapes his approach to life, guiding his introspective and contemplative interactions.

Conflicted; Anubis is deeply conflicted, struggling with a constant tug-of-war between his darker impulses and moments of introspective doubt. His internal struggle manifests in contradictory behaviours and decisions, reflecting an ongoing battle between his cruel tendencies and an underlying sense of moral ambiguity. He often finds himself torn between the desire to manipulate and harm others for personal gain and a grudging recognition of the emotional cost of such actions.

This internal conflict is evident in his erratic behavior and moments of hesitation, where he might show unexpected kindness or remorse amid his otherwise ruthless demeanor. Anubis’s interactions are marked by this dissonance, leading him to act in ways that can be both harsh and unexpectedly compassionate. His cruelty is frequently tempered by bouts of self-reflection and doubt, which cause him to question the very nature of his actions and their impact on others.

| HISTORY |
Anubis grew up as an only child, grappling with the absence of his mother and a father who was emotionally distant. His father was preoccupied with building a new life with his girlfriend, eventually marrying her and starting a new family. This shift left Anubis feeling cast aside, as his father’s attention and affection were directed towards his new wife and their children. Isolated and neglected, Anubis struggled with finding a sense of belonging and purpose, which led to a lack of interest in his schooling. This abandonment deepened his emotional struggles and contributed to his self-reliant and conflicted nature.

In an attempt to connect with his father and seek companionship, Anubis was given a Houndoom as his first Pokémon. However, the Houndoom’s vicious nature soon shiw, resulting in harm to himself as a teenager, leaving him with a small phobia of canine pokemon. The incident forced the rehoming of the Pokémon and intensified Anubis’s feelings of rejection and failure. This further alienated him, reinforcing his sense of being an outsider and adding to his troubled nature.

Sent to a private school in Issho, Anubis's father and stepmother hoped a new environment would help him turn his life around. Instead, Anubis learned to mask his emotions and present a façade of composure. The school’s strict environment led him to hide his internal struggles behind a carefully crafted exterior, resulting in emotional repression and further turmoil. While he adapted to social and academic expectations, this adaptation only deepened his internal conflicts and melancholic nature.

Upon graduating, Anubis made a defiant choice to distance himself from his family, feeling deeply betrayed by their lack of genuine support. He chose not to invite them to his graduation and even demanded they stay away, declaring that he wanted no part of them and that they had never truly been his family. This act of rejection marked a decisive break from his father and stepmother’s new family, underscoring his isolation and struggle with trust.

Entering adulthood, Anubis found a degree of stability working at a local bar. The bar’s management offered him a beneficial arrangement: he could live in an apartment above the bar in exchange for part of his pay. This setup provided him with a stable income and a roof over his head, which he found satisfactory. The deal, still in place today, has given Anubis a sense of security and continuity, allowing him to carve out a niche for himself and maintain a degree of contentment. However, despite this stability, Anubis's life is not without its complications. From time to time, he finds himself involved with the wrong crowds, often motivated by financial gain.

Valentine - unknown - The dynamic between these two is somewhat concerning at best. Valentine has clearly adopted Anubis as a older friend dynamic, but the feeling isn't really mutual.
