that's a very cool knife you've made. I had a look through your gallery and there were a few quite similar to this style with the twisted handle. What would you call this type of knife? Would it be a seax or simply a viking knife or something else?

Thanks! Β
No it is definitely not a seax. If I am not mistaking these type of knives were used mainly in the kitchen.Β
Would you like to have one?

Yes, they are. It is pretty much the simplest way to make a knife. It doesn't need any handle material or glue.
Here's an original from Danemark:

I have a question about the handle... I love the look of the handle itself, but would it be made more flexible because of the lack of a full hilt? I'm just wondering if it would bend at all. Β Not that I'm criticizing it, or that I know what I'm talking about, just a curiosity

Yes, you are right. If you force the handle, than it bends a bit, but is basically an arc, so it will return to its original form.

Ah I see! Β What a great design that will allow it to change to its original form. Β Makes it more 'versatile' I guess you could say. Β Thanks for answering the question! Β

I love the handcrafted look. It looks like a really cool and affordable collectible item. If I had lots of extra cash around I'd consider buying one

Thank you. Affordable is quite relative. I ask 75 euro for one similar, with all fees included:

Now, for some people that is a lot and it remains an unobtainable dream, and others think that it is almost for free and commission 3-4 pieces, one for each family member Β

I like it! Before the industrial age of mass production, every blade was custom. Each smith would put their own embellishments on the finished project.Β
