I just started trying to draw back in July 2019 , and progress is slow because of work, family, other hobbies etc…. but still I am trying to learn the techniques, oil pastel isn't too hard.....but its almost impossible for detail. I think maybe if you can do digital oil, it can achieve more detail. (?)

YEs, I like what you say about light, composition, color etc....
Currently I am still in the straight-line, curved-line phase, and progress will be slow as I juggle many different hobbies , but I I do some speed drawing every day.
You may see little tiny drawings on small notebook paper in my gallery. Those are done very quickly, with very little editing. I am practicing speed, and just well, like you say, getting in my 30 minutes/day.
