The world is a vampire
Sent to drain
And what do I get
For my pain?
Betrayed desires
And a piece of the game

What do you got?

Douglas surged forward, attempting to snag him by his shoulders with his good foreleg, clinging to his torso in a lethal embrace. Poison dripped from his mouth, staining his white chin, his yellowing teeth, until everything was black as night, as shadow. He would pierce him deep within, fill his blood with burning death at the neck, holding fast with strong jaws that hadn’t failed him yet, for all the rest of his weakness. He burned with it, like magma, steam rising from the ocean within his body as its last flame went out.

He had killed better cats than this, for less. It was all a matter of necessity. But this time, it was also something very deeply personal, despite being a stranger. To Douglas, this was no stranger. For a horrible, uncanny moment, it almost felt like he had sunk his fangs into his own throat - would watch the fire of another Douglas, in another life, sputter and die.
