To make my icons transparent, I just upload the image to sta.sh and use the magic want tool, it's easier.

I used a base, so it's not nearly as impressive as a raw one!
Plus, the site I used to animate and upload it doesn't make transparent backgrounds //dies

Yeaaaah, I know,
But I worked, re-uploaded and toyed with the whole thing for like, 2 hours, (it was too big D:<)
And I finally just threw my hands in the air and gave up after wasting time on a sick day.Β

you just click on the green area of the icon when you upload it to iaza and have chosen the transparant, then you click convert at the bottom and it should be transparant when you save it
