And here it is, the final page of Sonic Retold #3! Sorry it's late, commissions took priority.
Anyway, you must have known the Tails Doll was not going down quietly. It ends on the same cliffhanger featured in Sonic #247, but we never saw what became of Team Freedom afterwards. Do you think they're tough enough to take down this abomination, or have they finally met their match? 
Stick around to see the outcome in Sonic Retold #4!So now that the third issue is concluded, I'll be taking a break for a few months to focus on other work and prepare some pages in advance. I still have to draw the Off-Panel page for this issue, but I don't know when I'll have that posted. Also, I'm enabling critiques for this page in case you want to review the issue as a whole. Between Sonic's dream, the flashback with Mecha Sally, her parents visiting the Wolf Pack and.... uh.... Eggman in the bathtub, how did you like Sonic Retold #3?

Took me long enough to put all my observations together, didn't it? Blame the kids. Or my natural procrastination. Whichever.
Vision
Fallout from suffering seems to be the theme of this issue, and you start out by giving us a scene in Eggman's base that shows how put-upon Lien-Da's Dark Legion is, then pivot to the flashback of Mecha Sally being weaponized. (+1)
Sonic's dream hearkens back to his concern for Sally, combining it with Komi-Ko's demise. It's certainly dark, but in the way we need to keep calling us back to the gravity of their situation and what's at stake. (+1)
The caravan bringing supplies to the Wolf Pack Nation and Lupe's comment that some of her people died is another method to keep us aware of the deadly nature of Eggman’s attacks. This is no longer a Saturday morning cartoon where everybody lives. (+1)
There is also a definite sense of a countdown in the background. Eggman tells Lien-Da his device will be ready in 24 hours, and though he may not use it right away, the fact that it’s only a hop, skip and a jump from being activated puts everything on a tight timetable. They have to move fast to keep things from going Genesis. (+1)
Originality
I definitely noticed the frames in Sonic's dream gradually changing and becoming less solid as it grows more nightmarish. Making all the little Eggman doodles on the walls come alive made that last panel perfect! (+2)
April Fools was gold! Not only did you get a chance to play a joke on people, but you made Mina very happy! (+1)
I personally hate Lien-Da, but I can’t help hoping her scheme will even partially succeed in stopping the Genesis Wave, whether she takes all her Legionnaires or if she has to go back to Albion with nothing but a strike force. Whoever is hidden on the island must be a Chaos Knuckles-level character, because even Mogul wasn’t enough to give Eggman much pause (though I consider the Egg Grapes thing cheating). (+1)
Technique
As usual, I can't find any complaints with the artwork itself. Noted, I'm not exactly an expert on those things, but this girl likes what she likes. You tend to back up and show us where things are taking place every page or two, which really helps with visualizing the entirety of the scenes. My list of personal favorites are as follows:
Page 1 - seeing the interior of the Death Egg and repairs being done gives us more silent explanation of exactly how huge and exhausting the DEL’s job really is
Page 5 - Mecha Sally taking off with at least 8 robots in tow while Eggman watches her from his ship’s gigantic eyeball
Page 8 - Sally’s limbs being thrown into the furnace (less of a whole scene than a close-up, but I love the silence of the panels)
Page 12 - I’ll admit the remainder of the aurora borealis against a freckled backdrop of stars just before dawn creeps in to overtake it pulled on me in a way reminiscent of that indefinable Sehnsucht feeling
Page 14 - I’m sure jungle scenes are difficult to do with all the different shadings of foliage, but I really like the image of their caravan passing by that waterfall
Page 16 - showing us the architecture of the Wolf Pack Nation gives a nice presentation of definite culture and a splash of beauty
Page 22 - for some reason I can’t help liking the sight of Dr. Quack walking thoughtfully through the residential area
Well, there was one thing... on page 10 in the panel where Sally darts through the shadows, the angle of her legs doesn't feel right. I know it's meant to show speed, but I spent more time trying to figure out why it bothered me than the progression of the story.
Impact
I think the #1 moment that hit all of us hard was Eggman dismantling Sally (+1)
A close second to me is Max's silence as he watches Lobo with little Maria (+1)
I loved Team Freedom visiting Antoine since it keeps him from becoming a whitewashed background ornament; it’s important not to forget him! (+1/2)
The Tails Doll following Cream around had to be one of the more subtly creepy pages; it’s not the first time we’ve seen it sneaking around, but to see it after her gave the entire scene a stalking mood that made me anxious despite myself (+1/2)
Oddly enough, Eggman’s comment about love being a poison [page 9] sticks with me, maybe because it illustrates his viewpoint candidly and seems so opposite to the way we think of “the power of love” in this day and age (+1)

That's.... quite an exposé you've written on this issue, Janika. I'm grateful you've dedicated so much time to analyze my comic. 
I'm glad you appreciate the amount of work I put into illustrating these pages. I find that a detailed background is just as important to the story as the words that come out of a character's mouth. Setting the scene is important for contextual information and it's why I encourage other Deviants to focus on more than just character panels in their comics. Still, it's becoming a grind. My appetite for detail means that I'm spending longer completing pages than in the first two issues, and it's resulting in burnouts as seen in the recent delay. I'm trying to find a way to streamline my work to maintain quality with less detail, but it's a slow process. As long as my readers keep up their support, I'll pull through.

It seems Eclipse is nixing critiques because a reply option doesn't exist unless I'm on the old version of the site. That strongly implies all critiques that people have taken time, effort and occasionally love to craft over the years are going to be thrown into a cyber dustbin. Goodbye to all my analysis.
Exposition is something of a pet peeve with me, and unfortunately most people tend to fall into the trap. I'm glad you have enough clarity to know when to let the scenes speak for themselves. I don't know if you're familiar with the movie "The Breadwinner", but all the most powerful scenes to me had either no words or minimal speaking. If more people could reflect that same style of showing instead of telling, I'm sure the world of entertainment would be far richer. There is a certain beauty of meaning in subtlety, in expression, and in the scope of settings.
Oh, I can understand the feeling of getting burned out on occasion. You only just returned, and if you're already beginning to feel the pressure building, you may want to make updates every two weeks to keep from letting the project wear you down. Remember, it's just a fan comic. The only reason you have an obligation to make it is because YOU decided to start. Don't make the mistake of letting it run and ruin your life. We'll wait patiently if you need more time.

Wonderfully done comic that reminds me of the series that I loved when I was growing up. The art is better than most of the era of STH I was involved with and it makes me want to care about the characters again. Thank you for making this comic and allowing us to see what could have happened had the comic not went off the rails and never finished telling the stories that were set up. I look forward to the next comic and wish you luck on everything you have planned. Keep up the good work and thank you for doing this.

Interesting point. It's true that Mina told Nicole she was working on more positive songs in Sonic #237, although that was with the intention of reinstating Nicole within the city, which has already been done. Still, I'll put that on the list of 'old threads' I might revisit later in the comic.

I'm really loving this story! I like how you include certain events from the original comic into yours. I was angry and frustrated when Archie screwed up the comic and turned it into something completely different. The whole continuity wiped out in an instant. I'm glad you're continuing the story they cut off. Can't wait for more!

Pretty good so far. There's been quite a few attempts at imagining a continuation of the series prior to it's reboot(s), but it's so refreshing to see a new take being updated much more consistently. And it's a pretty great and promising one too! Though I realize that the whole Sonally thing is inevitable, I'm always a Sonamy fan at heart so it was really nice to get that moment with the two of them (though who knows, maybe there's still hope for future Sonamy moments, muhahahahaha. Kidding...kind of...not really, OTP forever, lol). It's been so interesting to see a reimagining of all of the events that led up to the Worlds Collide event and it'll be even more interesting to see what turns they take in the final battle before the second Genesis Wave. I like seeing how all of the character arcs are being handled so far, it kind of makes me think back to how everybody got reintroduced in the new continuity, so it'll be really interesting to see how they get those arcs resolved instead of being reset like they did originally. It'll be so neat to see those arcs come to a head and then see where this series continues, or if it reaches a more definitive conclusion. The only other thing I'd want to ask is if it's still possible to get your fan characters drawn into any future issues, I'd really love to get my oc in there, even if it's just a background extra, lol. Looking forward to seeing more in the future!
