Yeah, but you can close it if you want! It's not that heavy though, I can still play games and run Photoshop with the engine on, I guess it just comes down to how much memory you have installed.

the theme is called Royale Noir; it is an unfinished official windows theme. However, some claim that the Windows Zune theme is the completed version of Noir.

Correct - it is called Royale Noir. It was actually finished by Microsoft, however on completion it was dropped for being too dark.

...u used stylebuilder rite? when u take luna and make every color black, its not a 'black royale'

I did not use stylebuilder. Microsoft created this theme. It's based on Royale.
And I doubt anyone would want to take Luna and replace every color with black.

ok, regardless, even that ms did create it and gave it a fancy name..its exactly what luna is as a black theme...and yes it basically does have everything black w/ shades of grey

Nope. It's a Royale/Windows Media Center clone - in black.

I beleive it's loosely baesd on Luna - with aqua/plastic looking effects, not platinum.

not true. It's completely different from luna. Royale noir (based off the royale/Energy blue/MCE) is a theme designed by microsoft based that was deemed not ready for release. See here:[link]

lol i think ur 2 yrs late for this discussion
i actually had to re-read all of this..n honestly i forgot all bout it. but it was lengthy hehe
i'd rather not open this wound back up. but i agree, royale noir is based off royale. but royale is based off luna. n royale noir/royale blue r only one notch above in comparison between what luna blue is to luna green n luna silver. a lotta what i was saying was pretty brainless..but it is jus like a mod. it shouldnt really be called its own name. it prolly jus got deemed cuz of how it was unveiled. if it came out the ms way..it prolly woulda been jus called royale with royale noir as a color scheme without the noir at the end of the title

'The theme is not a substantially different incarnation of the existing of Luna, the current default theme for Windows XP. You can see the main changes in the screenshots below;one could describe it as being a 'glass mod' of Luna.'
how much more evidence do u need for me to prove to u that mce and noir r exactly the same in size and shape...jus diff colors...use ur brain plz...

First of all, the source of your quotation isn't even Microsoft - any old donkey could have said that.
And secondly, stay on topic!
You said:
...u used stylebuilder rite? when u take luna and make every color black, its not a 'black royale'
Royale Noir is not a black Luna. It's obviously a black Royale, hence the name Royale Noir. Just incase you didn't know, Noir means black in French.
And finally to what you said, I'm not denying that Luna is the mother-theme of Royale.
Next time; read and think before you bother to reply.

There is no official Royale Noir, it was released unofficially and if you're refering to the official Royale VS, it doesn't include noir, and it's not listed under Luna.
See for yourself. [link]
Royale is a theme in it's own right. That's why it's listed as a separate theme.

Extract files to βc:\windows\resources\themes\royale noirβ and double click on βluna.msstylesβ. Select βNoirβ from color scheme. Code-signed by Microsoft. No UXTheme hack required.
now jus stop..who cares if some1 creates a look alike of the royale noir as a seperate vs...god knows how many ppl have made their 'own' vista vs'..goodbye there burdy

It could be named Win98.msstyles, but it doesn't mean it is.
Ciao, that was a fun, healthy debate.

ur not getting it, the official ms signed royale noir is not actually a vs but a color scheme for luna....END OF GOD DAMN STORY, how many more facts do u need to prove this bs convo

FuzzyDogSlayer In reply to whitestwidow [2006-11-18 12:17:49 +0000 UTC]
No. Royale was developed as a new visual style for Windows Media Center. It featured two colour schemes, Royale (Blue) and Royale Noir (Black). However the black scheme was dropped from any futher development after being branded unsuitable, and due to the fact it was based on Luna, the filename still remains as Luna.
It's not a colour scheme for Luna, it's simply named as Luna, but if you were to place that in your themes directory, it would over-write your Luna, hence you have to rename it.
The moral here being that an idiot is an idiot, I could call you intelligent, but it wouldn't make you intelligent, you'd still be an idiot - just like if you said "Royale Noir is Luna" it doesn't mean it is, because its obviously Royale, hence the name.

ok les stop this bs convo of ur opinion i found all the facts i needed... check this link out [link]
and be sure to read 'Extract files to βc:\windows\resources\themes\royale noirβ and double click on βluna.msstylesβ. Select βNoirβ from color scheme.' it is jus a diff color of luna. end of story.

You don't know what you're talking about, try the theme and then come back, and don't beleive everything you read on the net.
Extract files to βc:\windows\resources\themes\royale noirβ and double click on βluna.msstylesβ. Select βNoirβ from color scheme. Code-signed by Microsoft. No UXTheme hack required.
When it says select Noir from the colour scheme box, it means when you have Royale selected as the mother-style. Without having selected Royale first, you won't see Royale Noir, take a look at my screenshot - it's proof.
