Description
Rakene lowered Jennifer’s limp body onto her bed and covered her with his cloak. Taking a breath, Rakene snuck to the door and went into the hall.Instantly picking up the smell of blood, Rakene sped to the door of the master bedroom. Without hesitation, he opened it, shut it, and crept over to Jennifer’s parent, where they slept.
Rakene wondered how he would be able to feed without them waking. But for a moment, Rakene didn’t care. He was getting so weak; his knees felt like they were crumbling and splintering under his weight.
Staggering over, Rakene pulled the cover a bit, to reveal the mother laying on her stomach and the father on his back. Rakene did not want to feed off the man; if he woke up, he could grab him in a bear hug and yell at the top of his lungs. At least the mother was on her stomach; that way Rakene could smother her if need be.
Rakene pulled back the neckline of the mother’s nightgown, to reveal her shoulders a bit more. Then, leaning forward, he cut a delicate gash with his dagger, which seeped little blood.
In earnest Rakene began to suckle the blood from the wound, blind from bloodlust. Only until his mind was filling up with the blood, did he slow his feeding. If he woke her up, it would make this so much harder.
Once the bloodlust completely left him, and his stomach made a satisfied gurgle, Rakene pulled away and wiped his mouth. Taking a napkin from once of his inner pockets of his cloak, Rakene wiped away the residue dribbling down the woman’s back. Licking his palm, Rakene pressed his saliva into the wound, and watched as the skin washed in to meet, healing the wound.
Rakene drew her neckline back up, and covered the pair with the cover. Then, leaving the room, Rakene considered what to do next.
That girl, Jennifer, was proving difficult. Sure, she couldn’t resist his light hypnosis, but she hadn’t screamed yet, and that is quite an accomplishment for a girl her age, confronting both a vampire and a werewolf in the same night. She used common sense and accepted his kind were real fairly quickly. She feared him, yes, but if he was gentle enough, she would turn that into respect. Rakene was a formidable opponent, but also a faithful ally.
Humans were unwelcome to vampire lives other than for feeding. They tended to be narrow-minded, and were a nuisance to most elders. Humans that associated with vampires often questioned the vampiric ways, questioned traditions and their ‘diet’.
Rakene pondered the girl again, finding her a more important problem as he entered her bedroom. She knew way too much about his ways, about nocturnal creatures such as himself, and would prove a thorn in his side if she was ignorant enough to expose him.
Rakene leaned against the wall next to the door, watching her sleep. He may have to kill her, alike how he killed her friend. Maybe he should do it now, while she was unconscious, to grant her peaceful, everlasting rest.
But first, he thought, I should explain the situation. I wonder if the little human will try to blackmail me. I want to see her at her full potential, to see her wrath; it would prove both amusing and interesting.
Jennifer stirred. Her head hurt. She felt cold.
Shivering, Jennifer tried to huddle into her cover. All she felt was some sort of silky cotton material, draped and tucked around her.
She shifted and wondered why her mattress was so uncomfortable all of a sudden. All stiff.
Jennifer shifted again, but it was still uncomfortable. Growling quietly, Jennifer opened her eyes. And blanched.
She was in this big dungeon thing, all stone and stuff. Torches were in brackets on the wall, and a sleek redwood desk was near where she was sleeping.
Jennifer thrashed, freeing herself from the material. She looked at it. Night blue, with a silver clasp at the collar. Jennifer froze. She knew that cloak.
Jennifer took another glanced around and swallowed.
She was in Rakene’s lair.
