I love how you have used streaming lines to create shading and light. The figures posture is so great holding his cigarette...I have seen this guy, the one who is lost in his own world and watched people doing whatever they do. I always wanted to ask him if hw thought dustbunnies were lazy. Seemed likea good icebreaker.

You used the values well here- really like how his t shirt is the whitest part; contrasts nicely with a haggered and tired looking face. The skewed perspective is interesting - were you sketching as you sat across from him at the table? The stylistic way you drew the hand works, as does the gesture in general.
I love to watch people smoke... It's funny that you posted this because I just did a sketch the other night of a woman smoking leaned on a table almost in the same pose, but with giant hooters and purple eyeshadow
I always wanted to start smoking 'cause it looks so rad and I need all the help I can to look less dorky. Another thing I never got around to doing I guess

"Hooters" is a very new word for me. I think it's funny.
Ooh, smoking is so cool. But it really doesn't look good on everybody. Like me. That is why I don't smoke. I also have a friend, who always looks like a major-dork-trying-to-be-cool when she smokes. I guess she can't do it "right".
