Description
This is my complete roster for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game for the Wii U and the 3DS. What I mean by "complete" is a roster that contains default characters, unlockable characters, Assist Trophies, Bosses and DLC Characters. These are not my personal favorites by any stretch - that would be my Dream Roster - but it clearly has some bias here and there, as it is near impossible to avoid some form of bias one way or another.Character Explanations:
1. Toad - During Brawl's production, it was between Toad, Waluigi, Bowser Jr. and Paper Mario. Since then, Waluigi and Jr. have been relegated mainly to spin-offs and minor appearances. Paper Mario did have another game, however, Toad has since been a main playable character in two mainstream Mario games, along with his appearance in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. Ultimately, I chose Toad, although Paper Mario still has a strong chance of appearing.
2. Dixie Kong - Like Toad, it was between her and King K. Rool. Honestly, I believed King K. Rool was more deserving, until I saw that Nintendo had again abandoned him in the newest DK Country game - Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. If he appears as the fourth playable character in DKC:TF, then he'd definitely take priority over Dixie, but for now, she's more deserving in my mind.
3. Takamaru - He's essentially confirmed. Sakurai himself said he'd include Takamaru if he appeared in another game. Cue Nintendo Land and Nazo no Murasamejou's random appearance. If that wasn't a hint, I don't know what else is.
4. Isaac - I was earnestly surprised that Isaac wasn't a playable character in Brawl. I've played Golden Sun (albeit not completely), and I feel that he would fit right into the Smash universe. Technically, either he (child or adult) or his son, Matthew, could appear, but I feel that Isaac is the "mascot" of the series, having appeared in every game.
5. Ridley - Oh gosh, here we go. BEFORE ANYONE ASKS - I do not play Metroid. I do not like Metroid. Ridley is merely here as a placeholder. Yes, I do believe Metroid deserves a new representative at this point. Who it should be, however, is beyond me. Metroid seems to be a series that suffers from a multitude of characters with very few essential recurring characters to represent it.
6. Palutena - With Kid Icarus: Uprising being a success and Sakurai playing favorites, another KI character is likely. It was between her and Medusa, but ultimately, Palutena won as she had a much more prominent role in Uprising, has appeared in all three games and Medusa was revealed to not be the true antagonist of Uprising and loses importance after a portion of the game.
7. Krystal - I have recently been replaying the latest Star Fox games and I came to realize how much of an emphasis they placed on Krystal following Adventures. Every other character seemed to fall to the wayside. Her role as the main heroine and love interest, combined with her unique playstyle, gave her priority over Falco, the sidekick.
8. Little Mac - Pretty obvious, if you ask me. He was a phenomenal Assist Trophy, fits right in and his game was a success on the Wii. Plus, his stage was shown in the trailer AND he's a part of the surprisingly believable rumor, along with Pac-Man and Mii.
9. Mewtwo - Personally, I never liked Lucario. I never felt that he held the same relevance and importance that Mewtwo did. With Mewtwo's new form being announced for Generation V and no other real "mascot" of the series that could be a viable option, I definitely feel like Mewtwo could return. Also, his appearance in the Forbidden Seven lends some credibility in believing that he was supposed to be in Brawl anyways.
10. Robin - This is my most biased choice. Originally, I had Marth, Anna and Robin as FE representatives. However, I removed Anna due to her lack of popularity and lack of major importance to the series, despite being a recurring character. Awakening has a vast pool of possible representatives - Chrom, Lucina, Robin, Anna, Tiki, Gangrel, Aversa and Priam all come to mind. Ultimately, I chose Robin to represent the recurring My Unit feature, his role in the story being more important than Chrom (in my opinion), his unique blend of swordplay and magic (which discredits those who complain about only swordusers in FE and those who want Micaiah or Cellica) and popularity amongst the fanbase.
11. Shulk - Xenoblade was tremendously popular on the Wii and a unique addition to it. It was so successful that at the last E3, Nintendo announced a new game being developed by Monolith. If Shulk is in it, there is no doubt in my mind that he will make some sort of appearance in Smash. If he didn't make the cut, I could see Sakurai adding Saki Amamiya in his place.
12. Pac-Man - Ugh. I am not in favor of this. But, surprisingly, I completely believe the rumor about he, Little Mac and Mii. Besides, with Namco working on the game as well, this wouldn't surprise me at all. There go my hopes and dreams for Lloyd Irving T.T
13. Mii - See Pac Man.
DLC Characters
1. Return of the Smashers Pack
- Falco - Didn't want to cut him in the first place, as he still is important in the Star Fox games. More decloned from Fox - given focus on aerial gameplay and long-range attacks, such as Sniper Rifles.
- Toon Link - Chosen due to his reappearance in Wind Waker HD. Uses weapons and tools from the Toon series - Wind Waker, Skull Hammer, Mirror Shield, Magic Armor, Phantom Hourglass, etc.
- Roy - Chosen due to possibility of unique moveset and reappearance in Awakening. Combines playstyles of Marth and Ike - retains fire element, slower than Marth, but focused less on finesse and more on force.
2. Femme Fetale Pack
- Captain Syrup - Chosen due to Wario lacking an additional representative and her role in the Wario Land series. Uses a variety of pirate-themed moves and utilizes the treasures she's obtained (ie. Genie's Lamp, etc.)
- Toon Zelda / Tetra - Chosen due to reappearance in Wind Waker HD and role in Spirit Tracks. Toon Zelda focuses on archery and Toon magic while Tetra focuses on knifeplay and Wind Waker tools (Bombs, Spoils Bag, etc.)
- Micaiah - Chosen due to differentiation among Fire Emblem cast and reappearance in Awakening. Utilizes her light magic and staves.
3. Villains Pack
- King K. Rool - Chosen due to overall importance throughout DK series. Utilizes his pointy crown, physical prowess and contraptions from his various appearances as Kaptain K. Rool, Krusha K. Rool, etc.
- Ghirahim - Chosen due to importance in Skyward Sword and popularity amongst fans. Utilizes a combination of his magic and swordplay.
- Genesect - Chosen due to its Legendary status and creative moveset possibilities. Swaps between the various drives it possesses to alter its attacks and forms.
4. Assistants Pack
- Saki Amamiya - Chosen due to resurgence of Sin and Punishment series after Saki's appearance in Brawl. Utilizes a combination of acrobatics, laser swordplay and gunshots.
- Andy - Chosen to represent the Advance Wars series and unique moveset possibilities. Mounts a tank which can roll around the stage and fire off a barrage of missiles, torpedoes, etc.
- Chibi-Robo - Chosen due to Japanese popularity and unique moveset possibilities. Uses a variety of his tools, such as the Toothbrush, Mug, Chibi-Blaster, etc. Is an extremely tiny character, a la Olimar.
5. Blast from the Past Pack
- Lip - Chosen due to recurring appearance of Lip's Stick throughout series. Uses her wand, her various blocks and fairy powers.
- Donbe and Hikari - Chosen due to being the first successful text-based adventure game heroes from Nintendo. Function as an Ice Climber-esque pair and can call upon their various animal allies in battle to attack.
- Donkey Kong Jr. - Chosen due to his various NES and other retro games and to add to the Donkey Kong franchise. Uses his brute strength in combination with vines, fruits, keys and other retro game references.
Assist Trophies
1. Rosalina - Rosalina floats in and uses her astral magic to lessen the force of gravity on the stage, allowing for better aerial combat and slower falling speeds.
2. Waluigi - Functions the same as he did in Brawl.
3. Paper Mario
4. Funky Kong
5. Kat and Ana - Function the same as they did in Brawl.
6. Kamek - Kamek flies in and uses her magic to enlarge the size of the character who used the AT. The effect lasts much longer than a Super Mushroom and their attack power is boosted drastically for the duration of the enchantment.
7. Tingle - Functions the same as he did in Brawl.
8. Toon Link - Toon Link appears and plays the Ballad of Gales on his Wind Waker to summon a pair of tornadoes that knock opponents all over the arena.
9. Saki Amamiya - Functions the same as he did in Brawl.
10. Metroid - Functions the same as it did in Brawl.
11. Viridi
12. Andy - Functions similarly to the Infantry Assist Trophy from Brawl. Andy appears in his tank and fires off various high-powered homing missiles at nearby opponents.
13. Adeleine - Adeleine appears with her canvas behind her and draws three separate drawings that come to life. Her paintings could range from items (Maxim Tomatoes, Warp Stars, Star Rods, etc.) to monsters from the Kirby series such as Ice Dragons.
14. Dark Matter - Dark Matter materializes from the shadows and chases opponents around. Any opponent that comes into contact with Dark Matter becomes momentarily possessed and fights the AT user's opponents without the player having any control over their character for a period of time.
15. Tom Nook - Only appears in Coin Battles. Tom Nook appears, rubbing his greedy little paws together, before stealing 1/2 of all characters' coins and delivering them to the AT user in a bag of Bells.
16. Andross - Functions the same as he did in Brawl.
17. Slippy Toad - Slippy flies in with his Arwing, the Bullfrog, and fires off a more powerful Smart Bomb at one area of the arena.
18. Samurai Goroh - Functions the same he did in Brawl.
19. Chibi-Robo - Chibi appears and begins scrubbing the stage spotless, drastically improving the odds of the enemy tripping when they walk. Before he leaves, he hides under his mug, which can be picked up (to reveal he has disappeared) and thrown at opponents for minimal damage.
20. Aeron -
21. Lip - Lip appears and summons various panels to drop along the stage, a la Tetris or Panel de Pon.
22. Lucina - Lucina appears and begins to follow the AT user around the battlefield. When the user attacks, she may join them in the attack for additional damage. If the user is attacked, she can jump in front of the user to block any incoming damage - including Final Smashes.
23. Zael - Zael appears and activates his Gathering power. After a moment, he dashes to a portion of the stage and releases a magic circle. The effects depend on the element of the circle, which is randomly determined (Fire = a wave of fire damages and burns enemies, Healing = The user and their teammates are healed of damage, etc.)
24. Poo - Poo appears and begins to mirror one of the AT user's opponents. Like Dark Link, he will counter any move they do, forcing them to go on the defensive.
25. Shadow - Functions the same as he did in Brawl.
26. Ghosts - The Ghosts frantically run around the stage in a frenzy, damaging anyone that they come into contact with.
27. Zero
Cut Characters
1. Toon Link - Functions wonderfully as an Assist Trophy, and his appearance is possibly deconfirmed (albeit not entirely) due to his appearance on the Spirit Tracks stage. He would be a great character for DLC to promote Wind Waker HD.
2. Falco - Out of the four major Star Fox representatives - Fox, Falco, Wolf and Krystal - his role is the least important in the series as of late. Fox is the main character, Wolf is the main villain and Krystal is the main heroine/love interest. All three of them also have major roles in Assault and Command, whereas Falco takes only a supporting role.
3. Lucario - I never felt as though he was of major importance to the Pokemon franchise. Personally, I felt as if he was a "Flavor of the Month" character. I would most certainly include him as a Pokeball character, though.
4. Ike - Similar to Lucario - "Flavor of the Month". I do, however, love Ike and wish this wasn't the case.
5. Solid Snake - I always felt as if he was somewhat out of place. Sonic I could see continuing in the series, but not Snake. This is honestly personal opinion.

Ah you got some interesting people on here. So for starters Zelda will get her Skyward Sword look to her and I say Shiek will get a new look to her as well. Link in Skyward Sword has baggy pants and you can see the baggy pants on him in Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS.
Ridley I know everybody wants to use him but hes way too big :/
As for Fire Emblem I highly doubt the Avatar created character will take the spot as Chrom is the main character for Fire Emblem Awakening. Little Mac is a big Plus+ since they released that new Punch Out on Wii not too long ago
For Pokemon I know Mewtwo everybody wants him back but he was popular for Gen 1. We are moving to Gen 6 now and not everybody wants just Gen 1 Pokemon for the game. If anything that Zoroark pokemon from Black and White will take the place of Lucario this time. The Pokemon Trainer can be the girl this time I say too. Definitely using the other 3 starters from Gold and Silver, or Ruby and Sapphire, or Diamond and Pearl, or Black and White
Krystal is a big Plus+ to take over Falcos place no doubt!
I think they can definitely add Paula from Earthbound as she does Magic moves.
I really doubt Toad as well for the Mario Roster.
But theres that girl Ashley from Wario Ware people all love who has a lot of attention for people to want to get in.
King K. Rool is a must for the bad guys team. Have him there with DK and Diddy.
Who is Takumaru? What games he from that he has such a big chance to get in?
I say Sin and Punishment would be a cool addition to the roster since they just had another game to it on Wii not too long ago.
And I know we dont much else on Classic Nintendo games where the Ice Climbers and Game and Watch and R.O.B are from so theres definitely going to be someone from very old Nintendo history coming in the roster as well.
So those are my opinions. Great Job making the roster prediction chart my friend

Wow, this was such a nice comment! Thank you!!
Anyways, I agree that the Zelda characters will probably get a redesign. It'll probably be loosely based on Skyward Sword's style rather than copied and pasted from the game. As for Ridley, Metroid's honestly the only series I know NOTHING about lol unfortunately, it's the only recurring character really, which is a problem in the Metroid series - no one's important. Yeeeaah the Avatar was a little biased on my part Wait, but Zoroark's not from Gen VI lol he's old news at this point, unfortunately. Mewtwo's been talked about a lot by Sakurai regarding Smash and he now has a new form for Gen VI, plus there's no real other Gen VI rep unfortunately :/ except Sylveon which...just no lol Krystal and Paula would definitely bring some much needed magic to the game, agreed. You doubt Toad? Honestly, he's the only Mario rep that hasn't "died" really. Waluigi's been in nothing but spin-offs, Bowser Jr.'s role's been downgraded significantly, but Paper Mario's still current (although his last two games haven't been overly successful). Eh, I'm iffy on adding a Wario rep. Ashley of all of them could work, or Captain Syrup, but I just don't feel like they'll be added. I feel like Yoshi and Wario are series that don't really need another character. Did I seriously forget K. Rool? O.O oops, my bad lol Takamaru is from an NES game (thus, he's the retro pick) and Sakurai said during Brawl that if he made another appearance, he'd include him in the next Smash game. He thus far has been in two games. Sooo basically confirmed lol I LOVE Saki, I hope he's in the game.

Hey you put a lot of effort into this and it should not go unnoticed
Yeah its most likely going to happen because it would also be a wasted and really lazy mans work if they just copied and pasted the Twilight Princess Zelda again and Ocarina of Time Shiek again XD
Yeah in Metroid theres not many characters to go and choose from. Theres Metroid Prime series with Dark Samus. You should really check out the Metroid Prime series! Really fun games all of them!
Lol yeah its cool. Chrom will definitely take the spot for Ike this time. Marth also got himself a new look as well in Fire Emblem Awakening!
Well guess the whole next Pokemon character mess should be settled by the creators of Pokemon then.
Yeah I know StarFox has been out of the spotlight for a while and we just cant have another Fox clone again. Krystal need to take over.
Yeah Paula will fit in nicely too.
Hmm guess the Shigeru Myamoto will decided on the new mario character this time.
Yeah sadly Paper Mario is falling off. Part 1 and 2 amazing and then I dont know what happened. Be real cool to see how he works out!
Well despite if its not Ashley who everybody wants but I bet she will pull off.
Yeah Yoshi I dont see another Yoshi character. Birdo is the only other character that works like Yoshi thats big off Mario but doubt anything will be looked into with her.
Oh so Takamaru is from a old NES game along with the Ice Climbers and Game and Watch then. Plus hes Sakurai's personal favorite. Well people cant really argue on the Retro picks because they dont know anything about the OLD SCHOOL XD
