Description
A friend of mine asked for a quick tutorial on how to make word bubbles so here it is.I'm aware that programs like Manga Studio do a MUCH better job of the, but... I don't have Manga Studio. At least not for my Mac. >.< In any case, this is how I do word bubbles.

I usually just use the elliptical shape tool then add the interior stroke effect. Then I can use the shape as the bounding border for text as Photoshop has that behavior innately.

Which version of PS on the Mac are you using? I've got CS5.
Typically, all you have to do is create the shape layer, use the Text too, click inside the shape while on the shape layer then the text will automatically bound to the edges of the shape. You can then do stuff like text formatting and alignment. As far as the speech tails, you can add those to the shape layer via the pen tool or simply put them on another layer and do the same stroke effect. Just make sure the tails overlap the edge of the bubbles so the stroke doesn't show where they connect.
