A person or gem will rarely see Painite and Abalone in separate areas. Abalone makes it a point to make sure that Pan is within eyeshot due to his suspicious nature. When they are apart, Abalone will try to maintain a cool composed facade even though he's clearly stressed. He isn't much of a party-goer, the only reason he's even at the club being that Painite wanted to go and they're both hiding from Homeworld due to past relations with the Crystal Gems. He does harbor not-so-secret romantic feelings for Painite, and gets testy when he sees another gem flirting with her.
