Firstly, the picture I used for this drawing is from Adam Lambert's "If I Had You" music video. The song is from his album "For Your Entertainment" (Sony).I have never drawn a close-up portrait before, but after being inspired by other celebrity portrait drawings I've seen on the internet, I decided to have a go and see if I could do one.
I love the lighting, contrast and colour in this picture and I spent around 46 hours on the drawing, trying to get it as realistic as possible. Unfortunately, the photo isn't very good and the colours aren't quite how they really look.

Thank you! I use Derwent Watercolour pencils and Derwent Artist pencils. I don't use water with the watercolour pencils - I just really like their texture as a normal pencil. Oh, and I used some soft pastels for the background. The paper is Mi-Teintes TEX pastel paper.
