First Impressions — Description
Also titled "Awkward Teen vs. Angsty Teen"

Story:

In the beginning of Jodie's 5th year (and Annelise's 4th), she came across a girl painting teacups in the grass. Unwilling to speak to her, but wanting to take a better look at the art, Jodie walked by and picked up one that was left to dry. She was quite prepared to walk away with the lovely cup when the girl spoke up, asking if anyone had seen where her teacup had gone. Jodie stiffened and it took little time for Annelise to realize that Jodie had taken in. Taking a firm stance, though clearly struggling to be intimidating (even as Jodie was much shorter than she) and demanded that she return her belongings and that it was very rude to have taken them in the first place. Jodie's cool composure began to break down as Annelise continued to rant nervously and eventually, she pouted and gave back the cup, tears brimming at her eyes in distress. "But it was so shiny!" she complained.

Ever since then, Jodie has been following Annelise about, asking about her cups and admiring her work, as she had the skill of a child with drawing. As much as Annelise often found her to be strange and sometimes irritating, she couldn't get rid of the girl and eventually came to terms that they had somehow become friends.

Notes:

Obviously, both of the character's hairstyles had changed since then. For most of the year, Annelise actually has extremely short hair, but this was before that time and before Jodie offered to cut it herself. Since becoming friends, Annelise has had to learn to be more outspoken, especially as she had to tolerate Jodie's antics constantly. Jodie's hair is the result of defiance towards her father and the excuse to show a bit of house spirit. After all, red and gold are the house colors, are they not?
