Description
Though the Church would be loathe to accept such a thing, there are plenty of overdoses who do not fall to madness. The likes of vampires and zombies especially, whose transformation leaves room for their mind. As long as they do not indulge and sacrifice their ideals, there are those who can continue on despite their altered flesh. In places controlled by the Church, this is not allowed, but despite their far reach, there are still towns and cities that are not fully sworn to them. Here, it is more likely for these overdoses to continue on, but only if they do not pose a threat. While this life still has its dangers, and plenty of people still unaccepting of them, a life can still be had nonetheless. There are just new challenges and different lifestyles that need to be adopted to make it all work.
Now a writhing nest of organs and veins, vampires find themselves in a vulnerable position. They are creatures born of speed and ambush, a lifestyle where battles are won in a single moment, and one solid blow can mean certain death. Having your body be exposed organs makes one a bit fragile, even making sunlight painful to them. However, they have learned to make do. Vampires will adapt their lifestyle to center around the night, and if day time is required, they remain indoors. In bustling outer cities with a strong night life, vampires would be ones to help run it. Special clothing and coverings are fashioned to help hide and protect their new bodies, and often vampires band together for strength in numbers. For creatures labeled as monstrous and cruel, they are certainly vulnerable and cautious when things don't align with their strengths.
In some cases, mainly for those with proper support and funds, bone-bile constructs may be used to aid vampires. Bone-bile prosthetics do not work, as the vampire body produces zero Black Bile. However, a specially made construct can do the job. Have it programmed with basic actions and designed to accept commands, and one can create a crude skeleton for a vampire to pilot. Most designs have a container filled with Blood for them to rest in, keeping the organs moist and healthy while also curbing their thirst. Some businesses that rely on bone-bile constructs for heavy lifting and work have started using designs like these where a vampire can oversee them. This helps give the ridged creations a creative mind to help guide them, and allow them to perform more complicated duties than normal.
For vampires who do possess such elaborate construct suits, there have been a few spotted that will actually have their frame wear basic garbs. Like large cloaks and robes, things that hide their bony false body. With such garments, a vampire could almost pass as a normal person, though a bit big and bulky. Such efforts to go through for this illusion shows that despite how monstrous some folk may appear, there are those out there that simply want to fit in.

Style and class! And yes it's another penanggalan, I'M NOT MADE OUT OF STONE!

Can't move without arms and legs? A exosuit will help.

And even if you do have arms and legs, an exosuit is still pretty cool!

How complex can one make a vampire frame? Could it allow for complex fluid movements like dancing? Preprogramming a set of precise moves and then mixing those around for a performance?

Vampire frames are essentially a combination of prosthetic and construct, so they are ruled by those very same limitations or possibilities.

what are the limitations then? could it mimic humans or would it move like a robot?

Movement wise, it isn't super stiff like a cartoon robot, but more an inbetween a robot and a human. It is not as fluid, as humans have many muscles working in tandem to move our limbs, while constructs typically just have their joints. Unless the design is highly complicated in its joints and articulation, typically constructs move in a very straightforward manner, no real excess, flourish or bending to it. Like if you were going to grab a cup off a table, your arm is going to have a little extra going on while you do it (like moving slightly on the side-to-side plane while also extending forward. And like turning the cup more towards your body when your hand gets a hold of it), in opposition to a construct that would just do the simple straight forward, grab and retract.
Restrictions are determined by how complicated the design is and how much programming is put into it. A construct designed to lift boxes is going to come off way more awkward and stiff than a construct that has been designed to have more of a mind to them. Even with that, there can be split second "loading periods" between certain actions or complicated behaviors, as the construct or prosthetic is tapping into the stored information. Essentially "opening the file and activating the protocol" that takes mere fractions of a second, yet it can be seen how it breaks up fluid movement. And if certain behaviors or abilities are hard coded into the Black Bile crystal, it means a perfect execution each time, but it also means there is less flexibility. The program must run from start to finish, so if halfway through conditions change or you change your mind, you really can't.

So if someone were to obsessively inscribe their own frame for perfection, could they make something that moves akin to Karmelita? A few premade very smooth commands that one can mix and match?

Overdose of tears: draugr
Overdose of milk: succubus/incubus
Amber: dryads

For Tears I have been torn between draugr and banshee. The succubus/incubus for Milk isn't too bad! But for Amber, I am planning on dryads being a species, not an overdose.

Ooh, creepy but... The way the Vampire is sitting in there is really cute~! With his tentacles on the edge of the cockpit it looks like he's wavin at us.
Also another long one incomin.
“So, I've discovered a few things. Firstly, Vampire Spells are very enjoyable to use but are a bit difficult to cast. They really do work, and any vitality stolen comes right back to me! Heck, even my allies get some, as Astrio said he felt refreshed just by standing near me while I practiced. Secondly, speaking of Astrio, he's very good to have around during training. He's very supportive and often praised me for progress. I wish I had him around during my attempts to master Primal Magic… that got very frustrating at times to the point I nearly quit at numerous points. It helps that Virik Sangaen is a very good teacher, despite being such an odd looking fellow. Which leads into the third thing I learned; Some Vampires hook themselves up to bone-bile frames to better adapt to life without skin. Or… Arms and legs. Virik is naught but a head, long white hair, two glowing eyes, and organs! Yet he's an accomplished Weaver! How? He has tanks of blood affixed to his back, while he sits comfortably in a cockpit filled with blood! I was flabbergasted! Apparently Virik was a wealthy fellow before succumbing to Vampirism, so affording all of this was easy.
These “Vampire Frames” are actually somewhat commonplace in Faithless areas. Hmph… I should stop calling them that. It's better to call them Churchless Regions, because they often have their own faiths there. Anyway, these frames are how people and Vamps without all their limbs can intermingle! All that blood in their cockpit actually helps them combat cravings, you see! When I told Abbigail of this, she joked about putting me in a frame full of Eitr. Yes, yes, very funny, though I think I’ll save that for if I somehow get reduced to just a head and torso. Let’s hope that’ll never happen! When I sparred with Virik, it was clear his frame was very well made, able to deflect Remorse and Redemptions’ strikes consistently and deliver counter attacks with swiftness. He broke my nose at one point and he felt rather guilty, but I recovered in short order thanks to some Phlegm. I wondered what would happen if I had to fight a Vampire Frame for keeps, but I prayed that’d not happen. Vampires who have them are usually of the good alignment, so ideally I shall have no need. After training, I did have to put my new skills to good use.
Some Feverish Cultists were leading an attack on Aegis. Scouts that managed to get back to us before their arrival raised the alarm, and I was quick to respond. Since it was dusk by the time we finished, even the Vampires of Aegis came to the defense. A massive horde of Arimakki were rampaging towards Aegis, forcing Hunters to abandon their training camps and corral the Farmers and villagers outside of the city’s walls to safety. Bone Bile Constructs rushed to stall, but they were quickly overwhelmed as the city’s defenses were manned. Siege weapons such as catapults began to launch boulders and blast barrels into the oncoming Horde, obliterating scores of the Devil Bugs and their madmen cohorts in minutes. Archers fired down upon the monsters, decimating even more. But it seemed this was a coordinated effort. I wondered what was the cause, then I spotted him amongst the crowd. Priest Sekinetsu, Master of the Feverish Kings Cult. He strode into battle atop his Arimakki Sasori mount, the scorpion-like ‘Makki being his signature, its long twin tails ending in super sharp stingers, which is how it got the name Twin Death. Sekinetsu wielded his horrible Red King Staff, the bone staff ending in a Vile Red Tree sapling, its very presence bolstering the strength of nearby Arimakki. Hmph. Sekinetsu and I have fought many times before, but he always gets away… He hates us Hunters, and he REALLY hates me. The feeling is mutual. Well, it was time to put my new weapon to a field test. Using the Huo Long Box, I summoned the Long Legate armor to my person, taken aback a fair bit as it quickly enveloped my body. But everything was perfect, it fit to my body without flaw, and I felt as the Yellow Engine kicked on and began to rumble. I clanged my Storm Claws together as the Huo Long Cannon began to rotate while it warmed up. As the other defenders on the battlements continued to fire off projectiles, I took a few steps back, the feeling of Yellow Bile enveloping my personage as it was sent throughout the limbs and spine of the Battle Armor, before I made a short charge. When at the edge, I jumped, the thrusters on the legs giving me even greater airtime, and I was soon over their second or third battle line. Soon the engines were cut and I plummeted down to the ground, and I noticed one of the Arimakki Cultists took notice of me a bit too late to dodge. I crashed down HARD, yet I was completely unharmed, though the cultist was naught but paste and many bioforms were scattered by the impact. “FACE MY RIGHTEOUS WRATH!” I proclaimed as my spirit was stoked by the effects of Yellow Bile, followed by the beginning of my battle frenzy. My Storm Claws skewered and sliced with immense ease, vivisecting and cleaving Arimakki Ha and Arimakki Hara, and when I gave a squeeze to the right mechanism the Yellowflame Flamethrower unleashed a bellowing flame that set scores of Makki and Cultists alight. I was hammered by Fever and Sweat, blades and claws, clubs and tails and tongues. It all rolled off my back. I reeled back and stomped down hard, sending out a shockwave which sent a formation of cultists away. Arimakki Ha dogpiled me, but I simply flopped backwards and crushed them under my bulk, and a roll to either side crushed the others. I could swat off those who clung to my front as I got up. Thanks to my rampage, I was drawing a lot of attention, causing the Arimakki assault to become sidetracked by surrounding me on all sides. “THOU SHALL FALL BEFORE ME!” I roared, my soul burning bright now, and I began to unleash Yellowfire Arrows from the Huo Long Cannon. Countless bioforms were engulfed in flame, and when I began firing to the sky I shot down Mushi after Mushi. I could spot the gates parting, allowing more Bone Bile Constructs to swarm out and meet the Arimakki, with purchased Chimera joining the fray. Thankfully the Arimakki didn’t reach the gates before they closed. Now caught between me and the line of Constructs, I was able to start herding them into the blades of the Constructs. In a matter of minutes, the balance of power switched back in our favor!
I was truly on a tear. Thanks to the constructs and help from the defenders on the battlements, I wasn’t overwhelmed. When I met up with the Construct’s frontlines, I began plowing a path towards the head of this vile serpent– The Red Fever himself. With him dead, the Cultists would break, and the coordination of the Arimakki would shatter. I finally got close, but [Feverish Lightning] struck me right in the chest. Feverish heat managed to reach me as my armor was briefly shut down, promptly reminding me how this fiend bested me before. I had gotten cocky, admittedly. I couldn’t afford to fumble now. I cut power to the Huo Long Cannon, rerouting its Bile to maintaining the engine’s pace. That was good timing, too, as [Feverish Cutting Lightning] struck the Huo Long Cannon arm, slicing the weapon clean off. Damnit. Midiyorah was gonna give me such an earful… Twin Death violently seized me with both of its monstrous scorpion claws and began to try and tear me apart, but it didn’t restrain my arms. Sekinetsu began blasting me with [Feverish Burn], dramatically heating me up to the point I’d be cooked alive if I didn’t stop him. I swiftly brought my arm around, opened the clawed palm, and focused. “Unhand me you VILE THING.” I snarled before letting him have [Vampiric Shock]. The Priest of Fever was sent careening off his mount, his vitality swiftly coming back to me. The burns I had begun to suffer vanished, and I could feel my strength return. I angled my hand down and began to charge a spell, grunting as Twin Death began to try and stab through my torso to no avail, then I unleashed [Vampiric Beam]. I rapidly drained Twin Death of strength, causing it to stagger and release me, though I fell to the ground with all the dignity of a fish dropped on the pier. But now my body was SURGING with power, and I easily got back up even as the Bile Engine began to sputter. I seized Twin Death’s claws with both of my hands, placed my boot on its face, then tore off its arms. Vile sweaty ichor sprayed from its arm sockets as the horrid thing screeched in pain, its tails shooting towards me. I caught both stingers in my armored grasp, tensing my hands and breaking them off! I proceeded to stab the stingers into its skull, causing it to let out a final shriek before collapsing into a heap. Hmph! My armored gaze shifted to Sekinetsu who was looking on in anger, his glowing eyes burning with fury under his Arimakki hide hood. I mockingly challenged him, but he was a coward and fled! He must’ve known I was too strong, but I wasn’t allowing him to flee unchallenged. I let fly a stream of Yellowfire which cut him off, then struck him again and again with [Vampiric Bolt]. I managed to catch up and seized him, lifting him up and tearing off his arm. I prepared to tear off his other arm, but his Fever Guard jumped me. These were elite Arimakki Warriors which always accompanied The Red Fever. I had to release Sekinetsu to try and fight back, but at this stage I was running out of Yellow Bile. Blight. Taking my sister’s advice, I strategically retreated, though I ran out of bile as I swatted aside foes. I used Primal Vigor to make it back to the gate, though I ejected when I was far enough from the horde.
I rejoined the fight after slipping into the Weeping Mourner armor, and the Arimakki Horde was repelled. They had managed to reach the gate at one point, but by then my armor was refueled and I was able to hold the gate with the Long Legate. Whew. Virik asked how I liked the new spells, and I happily told him they were truly invigorating~ That said, I did go to bed early after a visit to the hospice… Vampiric spells or no, I was cooked. ~Jerikoh Marr, Arimakki Armageddon.
P.S.: Midi did give me an earful for losing the Huo Long Cannon. We had to sift through a bunch of dead Arimakki for it and it was totally busted by then. Basically had to rebuild it. I foot the bill for the replacement parts. At least it's reattached and reinforced this time!
Personal Note: I did promise a follow up about brother’s situation. Well, it seems that The Prophet of Profits returned home to the Sanguine Heartlands, bringing all the men and women drafted into service with him. At least those that survived. About a thousand or so soldiers and frontline workers were brought home… As well as the spoils of war, including resources, wealth, and slaves. Many families were reunited, and happiness is abound! But… Now that all his soldiers are home, the Priest is “putting the screws on us”, said Moloch. His Sanguine Inquisition sent an agent to a meeting between Moloch and the other underbosses of The Nine Hells and told them they were no longer needed– Thus their power was to be cut down. After all, the city guard was no longer staffed by a skeleton crew garrison, so now Faithful citizens could root out crime and Heresy without organized criminals helping. Moloch knew this meant eventually, after the soldiers had a little time to recover, they’d be turned against The Nine Hells. So, a mass exodus of his family was in order. Hmm… How troubling. I did get a letter today that Mother and Father are coming to Allister’s Aegis, so that’s exciting! I can’t wait to see them again… I’m planning on meeting them at Vizeer, which is about halfway to Allister’s Aegis. I want to make sure they get here safely, especially after what happened today.
Speaking of, Moloch and his family are all doing well, aside from Moloch’s displeasure about his work being undone by the Prophet. His wife wants to stay in Aegis, but his husband wants to move to Veilheim. Poor guy is caught between two Hyaena. Talk about a tough decision…
I need to look into Moloch's claims that The Prophet is Priest Salazar. Priest Salazar was like a second father to me, how could he truly subvert the Sanguine Heartlands like that..? I simply don't believe it. Not saying Moloch is lying, but perhaps he's mistaken? The Prophet of Profits calls himself Supremus Valadorian, perhaps that truly is his name rather than an alias..."

Vampire Frames are the perfect way to transport the vulnerable meat sacks in this harsh world. And with how intricate and souped up Jerikoh's armors are getting, he really isn't too far off from getting a set up that lets him soak in Eitr! Plus would really help with these intense battles, where he has to consume so much humors to fuel the fight! The vampire magics do help some, but his powerful armors and potent magics sure demand a lot! Thankfully, the Arimakki were repelled and he made it out in one piece!
Poor Moloch, all his hard work undone! Time to move the show to somewhere else!
