So, it has been forever since I last drew anything so I am a bit rusty lol
There are probably like 2 hundred mistakes or whatever in this drawing concerning lighting shadows and all that other rot, so if u see one please point it out so that I can do better the next time.

Btw, for those who are wondering, the sun is behind the planet in the background, which is why it is night time in both planets

I really like the 'drawn' feel this piece has. It's quite interesting. The blue looks like a solar flare or a moon, but reflects so nicely in a sense.
I like the person, it really adds a little earthly feel to this. Normally pieces like this are intense and completely outer-worldly, but you've captured a nice essence of both worlds. Great work

thanks, yeah i know what you mean about the other-wordly feeling, I get it all the time. When drawing sci-fi I usually try to find something that people would find familiar to make the piece more believable.
After all, I myself am attracted more to pieces that have something that you can latch onto

I have to pretense this by saying that I am being EXTREMELY picky.
I am not entirely sure what the round shape in the background is. I think you are trying to protray a planet or moon. It reads more like a large bubble hovering, or a iridescent rainbow. I think this is because of the extream and small highlights on it (it looks like reflections). for it to be aplanet i think the shape needs to continue all the way to the horizen, and have more brad,and less intence shadows and highlights on the surface. (you might be able to accomplish this by just blureing or blending the texture you already have. I think the silhouette could continue down the right side of the tree. I also think all the leaves could be dark, and given the same silhouette as the rest of the tree. in addition I think the figure and the tree could use a subtle cast shadow.other than that I can't see any other issues with lighting.
I have to comment on how much I love your creative use of brushes. It gives the piece a very interesting dynamic. also your composition is superb. the eye is attracted to the strong blue light then travels through all the lovely detail in the city, and finaly to your figure and the tree, then back to the focal point.
your color use and contrast is also awesome. the blue and the yellow with the warm green complement each other very well.
this piece has so many strong points, I think having an open interpretation of what your blue shape is does not distract from the piece itself. nice work.

Thanks a lot for the critique! Now that you mentioned it, I can see how the planet in the background may not immediately come across as a planet to others. I suppose I sometimes get into it so much that I forget to make the ideas and stuff easy to understand
