It Burned... — Description

Context: in 1914-when the germans had taken Leuven- it was rumored that English and Belgian soldiers were on their way to Leuven. At some point -according to German soldiers- flares were shot, and right after there would have been shots fired from houses at the German soldiers. The soldiers intruded those house and shot everyone down who they saw had a weapon and put those houses on fire. The restlesness went on for a couple of days untill the inhabitants had to leave Leuven, after wich the city got set on fire on the 29th of august. Countless of artifects were lost as well as a few hundred of lives including children’s.

It’s weird how I got this idea, It popped into my head without any context yesterday morning. (Might be an aftermath of me reading Hetalia Belgium’s wiki page the evening before xD)

This drawing is fictional however- i don’t know if it was evening when it happend, i don’t know if there were any kind of hills there- I just imagined a scenario where Belgium finds herself gazinf upon the horrific sight, with England behind her (as he was one of the first to help her+ the english soldiers that were rumored to come)

On the other hand- i’m really proud and happy how this turned out!! I spend around 9 hours working on this (not 9 hours staright- i just worked on it half a day wirh some breaks here and there) I personally also think that everything looks ‘right’ like the colors all have this red- ish tone to them because of the fire and the sun setting. I did however use Easyposer (app) to create poses for the character that i had in mind, to reference of because i wanted to have somewhat normal proportions! XD
