I’m somewhat surprised no one has commented on this image.
I cannot nail down what exactly I find so unsettling about this image. It may be the combination of the mask (which is close enough to your skin tone to blend in) altering the profile of your face, with the pose (which sucks the sense of ‘aliveness’ from your figure) and camera angle. Despite knowing full well I’m viewing the image of a living person, I’m left with the uncomfortable sensation of observing of particularly positioned corpse.
Sorry if my comments are to macabre.

Hey I'm a fan of most horror films, you can't get too macabre for me. And I'm glad this photo made you feel something.. that's what I always hope to achieve.

If I can ask a tangential question.
I’ve been interested in why people who love horror films find them fascinating. The responses I get vary, but I’ll query you.
What is it about horror films that you find draws you in?
Do you ever/often watch horror films alone?
Do you ever find that you become more sensitive to ‘things that go bump in the night’ after watching horror films than before?
And lastly, do you find that you become more in touch with your emotions as a result of watching horror films?

Well, I'm a fan of almost every film genre there is. I just love movies and can appreciate almost any genre. So that's part of it. (I even like "bad" ones like the silly sci-fi channel creature movies. About the only types I don't like are shitty chick flicks, action movies, etc. Hollywood crap. If a film in those genres is well-made, then of course I'll watch it.)
Otherwise, they're "cool", fun (I enjoy the rush of being scared), sometimes have great special effects, you get to see a lot of hot chicks with no clothes on, etc. And there's just a cult aspect to it that's engaging and fun.
I do watch them alone, but not often.
I'm not really more sensitive to "things that go bump in the night", but I sure as hell know what to do when the zombies attack!
More in touch with my emotions? I was that already, but I'd probably say no either way. It's true that watching lots of horror films can desensitize you. I watched all of the Freddy and Jason movies (that's a total of 18) over several months... when I started, I was definitely jumpy... by the end, I was just sitting there laughing. But if something is very different from what I'm used to, it can still make me tense.
