Description
This was the picture I did during my streaming time. I finished it early, something I didn't plan for, but none the less I rather like the final result. Behold, Homer who now must face the wrath of Dr. Lisa Simpson in his own home of ghoulish proportions. It'll make you scream when you see game over. XDA cross over between Splatterhouse and the Simpsons. Enjoy!Β

Hello from ProjectComment
First of all I'd like to say that you did a very good job with this piece. There's a lot of good things to say about it. The composition of the piece works very well; having several characters in the drawing, but having them all surrounding Homer and looking at him points the emphasis of the piece straight onto him, which works very well.
Although I feel like the design you went for with Homer works very well, I feel like there are a few points in which you could improve. It's a bit tricky, since it's a mashup of a very cartoony style in the Simpsons mixed with a more realistic style of Splatterhouse. Homer's left arm (to the right from our perspective) looks amazing; the rendering combined with the shown anatomy works very well. Unfortunately his other arm (especially his lower arm) looks a lot less correct. I think this might be somewhat due to the arm being partially obstructed by his abdomen/belly. Try to see through the forms in order to get your anatomy right before moving on to shading. I feel like there was a bit of indecisiveness relating to the body type you would give Homer. You went for some very buff looking arms, combined with a very middle-road chest (which looks way less muscular than the Splatterhouse protagonist, but a lot more chiseled than Homer's chest) with Homer's pot belly. Especially the way you really defined his pectorals, the transition into the belly looks a bit weird to me. I feel like either going with a not very defined chest or just a very muscular body all around would work better. On a barely related point, I feel like you could've gone with a more interesting pose for Homer, especially considering the Splatterhouse art generally being based in a action pose, though this is not a very big criticism.
Your rendering is very well done, I mostly think you have some ground to gain in terms of lighting. Again, this is a bit of an issue with the crossover, since the Simpsons is obviously very brightly lit, but with the general atmosphere you were going for with the designs and the background, I feel like a bit more dim lighting with some differently colored lights (like you did very well in the bottom right and left corners) could add a lot to the atmosphere of the piece if you would push that a bit more. The background is a bit simplistic, but throught that doesn't distract from the foreground which has a lot going on and the silhouette of Lisa in the background works very well for a foreboding feeling.
Again, I really love what you've done with this picture and the points I raised were merely attempts to help you improve, seeing where you are at the moment I have no doubt that you'll be able to go even higher in terms of quality and amaze us all.Β

THanks for the comment.Β
Yeah you are right about Homer there. I had some issues with his pose as I wanted to make him chunky yet muscular at the same time for some comedic effect- like the mask couldn't fully make Homer buff. XD

(On behalf of )
I don't watch that much of The Simpsons, and I've never heard of Splatterhouse when I saw this painting. So I'll just refer to the Simpsons characters if I have to, as well as talk about the other things about the painting.
Let's talk about the colors. It's great. I like the various colors that you used here, and I also like despite the various colors that you used here, the color stands out on Homer the best. It's as if you tell the audience to look at Homer first, THEN look at the other monsters around the painting.
Now let's talk about the shading. It's good, actually. There ARE some problems with it, though. Like, I can't really tell where the light is coming from. If that's the moon I see in the back, then is that light near Homer like a streetlight or something? And even then, is it one streetlight or are there multiple lights? Cause it looks like multiple lights in this. (Look at Homer, then look at the other monsters first.) Again, it's good. It's just kinda confusing.
Finally, the background. This is the one that's kinda mediocre. If the rest of the characters can have multiple colors that are similar to each other, as well as shading...then the background should at least show the same thing as well. It looks kinda two-dimensional, so that makes it stand out...in a bad way. Maybe if you made that house more three-dimensional, it would make it a bit better.
Sorry if I'm being harsh on this. This is still a pretty good painting. It just has some problems. Still, keep up the good work.

That's some good crossover material! Kind gives me that old Tree House of Horrors feel!
I loved it so much! The shading, the coloring and characters design are just perfect!
If had to critize something would be the mask... it's a bit too big and kind makes Homer's design a bit disproportionational to the original character.
The references to the games were so well thought out (at least I think they were...). Bart as the chainsaw guy (I don't know the name of the characters...), Margie as the Rick's girlfriend and Maggie as the... final boss... I guessΒ Β ...
The only one I didn't get was Lisa... I think it's because I played this game like many years ago... so I can't tell...
I wish that were more things going on the background, I mean, it's mostly black space... could be like more scenary from the game. But I think it fits with the simplistic art style of the Simpsons show. Also the house sillhoutte is just perfect, but I wish it was down a bit, it's too compressed on the top and I wish to see more of the house.
I don't how to explain this, but I can really imaging this being a actual episode of Tree House of Horrors, and I think the reason is because of how you got the art style, and that's was what I always loved in the halloween specials, how they re-create all the monsters from horrors movies.
I was thinking about tagging ProjectComment here.... but nah.... this will be just a comment from the heart

AH I see. Thanks for the comment.Β
Lisa is supposed to be Wes, mainly because she's the brains of the entire family lol. The background was supposed to be simple and a little bit dark, but it came out bright for some odd reason...
The house though should be more in the picture, I probably should have increased the height of it. There was going to be Ned Flanders as the final boss, but I had no room for him.Β
