The Cardera System (Setting) — Description
A depiction of a planetary system from which a lot of my story content derives. So far, the majority of stuff I've written takes place on Arachnia, due to its lush and varied environment, as well as the planar energies that flow through it. The timeline that follows this planetary system is much shorter than physically possible (there is a reason for that). Just about everything starts at around 1,000,000 BC. By the way, the system isn't to scale, I just wanted all of them to fit on one piece of paper.

Cardera (The Sun): A star only slightly bigger than our own (Sol), this star's energy flows about it in beautiful patterns that when observed in space almost make one believe it could be alive...

Xerozyg (1st in orbit): A desert planet with intense gravity, it is the closest to Cardera. The terrain consists mostly of rocky, barren landscape and swirling oceans of sand. War between a reptilian race and giant insects is silently waged on this otherwise inhospitable planet.

Cavasumus (2nd in orbit): A terrestrial planet with thick, crimson clouds. Incredibly fast winds that could cut through steel swirl about the planet, making the landscape appear smooth and sharp. No life can be found on the planet, but if there was any, it would likely be underground in its labyrinthine caverns.

Arachnia (3rd in orbit): A terrestrial orb brimming with life, it is an earth-like planet. Various species of humanoids, monsters, and other beings roam the lands and related planes of existence. Due to how many different kinds of creatures live on the planet, there is no one dominant species. It has a single moon known as Luna that is home to a sedentary and long-lived race known as Lunarians. The Lunarians are psychic in nature, and their warrior caste fights back against the serpents from the dark side of the moon.

Seranyx (4th in orbit): A gas giant brimming with storms, giant centipede-like creatures fly through the atmosphere, scavenging for any materials (edible or otherwise) that fly into the planet. Its core is the source of the storms, as well as where the centipedes are born. Of the three "moons", one is hospitable to life. Kahn is terrestrial in nature, and has a wide variety of plant and animal life, but no sentient beings. The other two moons are Vaultos, a hot orb spewing forth oceans of lava, and Niera, a water world filled with fish and strange, dark beings.

Meladore (5th in orbit): A gas dwarf, this small planet is covered in dark clouds, blocking all light from piercing its shell. It is unknown whether or not life exists within it, but an advanced race known as The Dreamers makes their home on Meladore's moon Vervose, while an undead race called The Revenants live on Orvose.

Maw of Eternity: An unseen and incredibly intense patch of gravity on the outskirts of the planetary system. Asteroids and other floating bodies collect around the edges of this hole for unknown reasons, making it appear like a giant mouth in space to those close enough to safely view it. The Maw of Eternity is otherwise unobservable from any of the planets or moons.
