The Solar System — Description

Here you are – the Solar System, a creation of the Unreality Sphere.

Some travel here to refuel their ether-ships, while others come here to relax or explore the system. Those who wish to go to Phantasma often have to do the second two activities to kill time. You see G.P.I. fields* appear around Phantasma's Obscure Space region, preventing safe passage in and out of the galaxy. People have to wait until passageways pop up.

This system is your first tiny taste of the weirdness you'll get from Phantasma.

Its star, Sol (1), is at its center, a giant ball of superheated gases – mostly hydrogen and helium.

Thirteen planets go around it – Vulcan (2), Mercury (3), Venus (4), Sea & Earth/Eurydice (5), Orpheus (7), Mars (8), Jupiter (10), Saturn (11), Uranus (12), Neptune (13), Pluto (15), and Thetis (17).

Earth and its moon Luna (6) debuted when Orpheus crashed into Eurydice.

I know what you're going to say, "If the planet collided with Eurydice, then how come it's still here?

"And why do you talk like Earth and Eurydice are two different worlds?"

To which all I say…shut up! I'll get to those parts later.

Earth, a world mostly covered in oceans, shares its orbit around Sol with another planet called Sea, whose surface is 75% dry land**.

Various large structures exist in this system, two of which are made from interplanetary junk left over from its creation.

The first junkyard is between Mars and Jupiter, called the Asteroid Belt (9), and it is made of trillions of giant boulders.

The second junkyard lies beyond Neptune, called the Kuiper Belt (14), made up of trillions of giant dirty snowballs.

Passed it, and Pluto is the third big junkyard and the biggest of them all – the Oort Cloud (16), also made up of trillions of giant dirty snowballs. Some weird and creepy stuff happens here.

Thetis and Invidia (18), two super-rocky planets, lie within the cloud.

Invidia, the thirteenth planet from Sol, does not go around its star but drifts through the farthest part of the system.

Even deeper within the Oort Cloud is Hydra (19).

It's an anomaly, neither a living thing nor a planet, that captures ships that come too close to it, using its tendrils, and then absorbs them through its surface.

Now that I covered the more famous places in this system, you now think, "This isn't too weird, except maybe Hydra." Well, I got news for you, pal.

You probably think Sol is just a plain old star, like the trillions of others in the First Three Galaxies, right?

Well, you're wrong!

This star is inhabited…by intelligent beings, no less, but these aren't creatures made of plain carbon/water but magnetism and plasma, called Plasma Spheres.

Surprised, huh? Here's another one for you.

The other places I mentioned?

Most of them also have life, and that life is also intelligent!

Planet Vulcan and its permanent dayside, covered in lava oceans and floating volcanic rock islands?

It's the home of the Volcanic Arachnids – folks made of sulfur and molten rock.

Yes, that's right, those guys bleed lava!

Mercury, that hot, irradiated ball of sulfurous gases and gigantic colorful lakes and rivers of molten sulfur fed by massive volcanoes?

The folks there are made of fancy carbon called floor carbon*** or something like that, and they use that molten sulfur stuff instead of water. These people are called the Finned Hoppers.

Mercury also, technically, has one asteroid-sized moon – Trivia, said by some to be inhabited.

Planet Venus, that deadly hot volcanic wasteland blanketed in a crushing, poisonous, corrosive atmosphere?

Two biospheres for the price of one planet, my friend!

Alkie-based**** in the clouds, silicon/carbon on the ground, and both use freaking sulfuric acid as a liquid.

The ones chilling in the clouds are called the Purple Flyers, the ones on the ground are called the Obsidian Tanks, and the latter are some of the toughest S.O. B's in this system.

Like Mercury, it sorts of kind of has one, also asteroid-sized moon – Cupid, also rumored to have life on it.

M.S.D.A. Fields***** surround both Trivia and Cupid.

Planets Sea & Earth/Eurydice, the Fourth Twin Worlds?

Okay, those one's are not so surprising. "Where there's water, there's life," as the saying goes. The chemistries there's a plain vanilla mix of carbon and water.

The difference between the two planets is that Sea is inhabited by a single hive entity – the Lotus Net.

Earth, meanwhile, is inhabited by a species of individual minds called Slave Apes...I mean Humans! Oh, who am I kidding! Humans are slaves! The true masters of Earth are the people of Eurydice, the Spectral Nightmares.

Here's the deal with Earth and Eurydice, both worlds share the same space but are on different dimensional wavelengths. When Orpheus crashed into Eurydice, the second world got dimensionally displaced.

Good luck trying to get to Earth, though, cause 9 out of 10 times, you end up in Eurydice due to that pain in the ass 2D Grid****** surrounding the planet.

Never go to Eurydice without its people's permission. You'll either end up enslaved, possessed or dead…not that you ever want to come here. This place is now the spitting image of the Inferno.

Even if you managed to get to Earth, leaving it isn't easy either. Again, due to the grid. You might end up where the apes thought they lived for the longest time – an endless universe in some corner of a dwarf galaxy. It even looked like they were the only intelligent beings in their system. Boy, were they surprised when they found out what was truly going on…when the nightmares made contact with them.

Did any of this answer all the questions you might still have about Earth/Eurydice satisfyingly?

Earth's ever-present moon – unlike Endymion – Luna, an airless, irradiated rock, switching between being an oven and a fridge?

Another twofer!

One ecosystem exists on the surface, the other underground. Both share a plain old carbon/water chemistry, although the beings on the surface mix it up with metals and silicones in their anatomies. The people on top are called Rock Crabs, while the ones below are named Tunnel Builders.

The destroyed planet Orpheus!?

A literal ghost of its former self!

The whole place is a planet-sized haunted house, and I don't mean the fun, safe type you find in amusement parks. It's the homeworld of the Phantom Fiends.

Stay away from Orpheus…or don't your funeral.

How does one planet crashing into another cause one to be dimensionally displaced while the other returns as a freaking ghost, you ask? I don't know.

Mars, that rusty, cold, arid waste?

The people there don't need much water. Their carbon/water, plus some hydrogen...stuff******* that attracts water. In fact, too much water can kill them. These folks are called the Subterranean Squids. With a name like that, you can guess where they live.

Be careful when traveling the Martian underground tunnel systems – hostile squid factions and other nasty things exist there.

The Asteroid Belt?

It's what's left of planet Phaeton after it blew up 65 million years ago. The planet was the homeworld of the Jewel Mollusks [EXTINCT]. Now it's the home of their living creations, the Horned Longnecks.

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, those giant stormy balls of cold hydrogen and helium gas?

Jupiter is another two-for-one. No surprise there since it's so big. The carbon/water/arsenic-based Glass Sticks live in caverns inside the planet's massive core, while the carbon and ammonia-based Sky Bells hang out in its clouds.

The gas giant has four moons with life on them – Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto.

Saturn is yet another twofer – the carbon/ammonia Jet Rays live in its clouds, while the carbon/water, clathrate insulated Magnetic Sails dwell in its rings.

This big world has four inhabited moons – Mimas, Enceladus, Titan, and Iapetus.

Uranus has the Metal Drops living on its core, whose stuff of life is solid and liquid "metals."

The first ice giant also has three inhabited moons – Miranda, Titania, and Oberon.

Neptune's Cloud Blooms are made of lipids and liquid methane, and do I really need to tell you where they live?

This second ice giant also has one moon with life inside it – Triton.

Pluto, a super cold world of liquid hydrogen and helium?

The hydrogen/helium/magnetic-based Icy Piercers wouldn't want it any other way…because otherwise, they'd turn into vapor.

This icy world also has one inhabited moon – Charon.

Thetis, a super-rocky ice planet with a thick atmosphere of hydrogen and helium and a frozen nitrogen surface?

An ocean of liquid water exists beneath that cold surface with toasty thermal vents, and you won't hear any complaints from the carbon/water/sulfur-based Ocean Gliders that live here.

Those people are also into the slave trade, like the Spectral Nightmares, so be careful when coming here, or you'll end up as a slave… one with a brand new set of gills, no less.

Invidia?

Well, duh, just looking at its surface tells straight away that someone's home, and that "someone" is the Cyber Raiders, who not only like to steal from people but also perform experiments on them…painful and horrifying experiments.

Hydra?

The Abominable Centaurs love to capture food – ships and their crews – for their dear "mother."
