CASE Z - JLLSFJLL06 — Description

I know what most of y-ou will ask. "Who is this ? Who even is this ?" And you're absolutely right.
What I am going to say here will be probably controversial but I frankly do not hate "The Joker's Last Laugh". I know it doesn't have a glowing reputation, I know the behind-the-scenes add to the frustration considering what we SHOULD have had YET I also know that it had the last genuinely well-written Joker in the mainline Bat-continuity for most of the early to mid-00's. It also, for better or worse, feels like the actual end of 90's Batman & taking place in a completely separate line from the main Bat-books. And seeing how mostly forgotten it is, can you really blame me for thinking that ?
Seriously, for a huge Clown Prince Of Crime and O'Neil Era Batman fan that I am, this storyline is the closest I get to a curtain closure. A defanged, editorially-attacked & robbed of its consequences ending, but an ending point nonetheless... the other ending point would be the Scott Beatty run on Gotham Knights as it plays to a different rythm from either Rucka or Brubaker.
With that said, who is this "Rancor" guy ? Well, Todd Oszechorski was a morally-bereft Neo-Nazi madman who assisted the Joker during the "Last Laugh" storyline. Kind of a darkier Gaggy Gagsworth now that I think abaout it...he also happens to be a metahuman using empathic psychic powers to sow madness & amplify negative emotions. He was also scheduled to be Joker's replacement/heir after the original's death at the hands of Nightwing. YES, that was Chuck Dixon & Scott Beatty's original plan.
Wanna know more ? Well, here's Mr Beatty's explanation as I prepare MY review of that storyline !

Also, do you think I should make a suite of cards for Batman & his allies ? The "star" suite like those 5 suite decks ? YOU make the call !
