Description Continuing my historical portrait series, I decided to break out the old 1960's suit and tie. And to complete the shot, a most appropriate prop: a cigarette (not a real one; I don't smoke)!

In memory of Kodachrome film (which was processed for the last time in December), I gave the image a muted red cast evocative of early emulsions.

It has indeed a vintage feeling, but I suggest to use a real cigarette next time, you don't need to smoke it, but it would add some realism.

I agree, but I am not allowed to smoke in my apartment (and the smell of even one cigarette would leave a lasting smell, let alone the many I would need to get the shot right!). In any case, I think my cobbled-together paper-and-matches replica does a good job for what it was.

Well then I think you can not do much about it.
the fake cigarette did its job well, after all...
