no it's not that. though i can see where you could come to that conclusion. portraits have a lot going on in them. if you need a specific person for example, say your local congressman, then it doesn't matter what he/she looks like you have to have specifically that person. if the shot is for say a Ebony Magazine, you're probably not going to use a lot of white girls. Nothing wrong with white girls, just not the right fit. If you're taking a portrait and you're intent is to bring up a political/social statement about say, tattoos, you're probably going to want a model with some tattoos.
I personally don't know what the photographer here was going for. Maybe he got everything he wanted. and that's cool, the only one he needs to make happy is himself, and/or his client. And there is certainly nothing wrong with the model personally. This model did some other shots with him he posted earlier that worked out great and honestly a "skinny model" may not have worked. All I'm saying is a model is just like any other shape, figure, or object in the scene. If you have curtains, how much is showing, what color, is there's a pattern, open or closed? With his tub were there too many bubbles? not enough? wrong shade of white? too glared? not glarring enough? would a short haired model worked betteR? more tattoos? less peircings? a redhead or a blonde? a black or hispanic or asian model? a skinnier model? a bustier model? we all have visions in our head, and we try to use the resources available to get the best end result to that image. There's nothing wrong with this model, her shape/size, or look. I'm just suggesting it may not be 100% right for this concept. it's a great concept, and as always the photographer took a technically well shot image. I just thing not everything in the image is what it could be. hell, i'd change the tub honestly, but it's probably easier to change models than tubs.
