GASP. Could the Mime really be Vigil's distant ancestor? And if so... well, that actually wouldn't matter at all, would it? I mean, Vigil's from like a million years in the future. It'd be kind of weird if they WEREN'T in some way related. Half the bloodlines in Europe (mine inclided) trace back to Charlemagne, after all, and that's only a couple of centuries.This one was a quickie. I'm not quite happy with my Vigil -- think I made her look a little too severe. And the last panel is just bollocked to hell... but that first one's pretty okay, and the third is harmless. Always fun to draw the Canadian.
Next installment, something gets punched. Word on that.

brilliant as usual dan. i love the vigil pic here, you are being way too harsh. like others have said, she has this eerie look, but also a wise, beautiful and otherworldly all in one. I like the communication between the two...and at first read I thought maybe vigil was implying that mime and the canadian got together and had a child, thats why she has to go back aswell, and thats why he was shown, and then maybe the descendant of that offspring played a vital role in history. I guess i read too much into that, and maybe she just meant shes her great great great granddaughter. lol
anyway, top stuff.

Waitaminute... Vigil was pretty criptic if you ask me. Other than stating that she is the proof she could just be pumping good ol' Pat's head up so she'll be inspired. I think that would be funny. Anyway, I like you Vigil... I'm sure you can play with the shadows around the eye sockets and bridge to convey emotion when necessary. There's no doubt that you'll pull it off.

And my bloodline on both my parents sides trace back to Belgium, so I'll have to agree on that.
I agree with the others, I kind off like the alien look to Vigil. It makes sense that evolution would have some effect on the appearance of the generations yet to come for humanity.
And what's best is, this piece has the theme of predestination incorporated. A time travel plot device which I'm quite fond of, as it always makes sense. Vigil is simply stating facts... She's there, therefore the Mime is destined to prevail. History is immutable.
... Or she could just be saying that to calm the other fighters down. 
And then there's "No, not fight. Win." Brilliant.

I hear you on the evolution angle. The slightly different facial structure was supposed to convey that. In fact, in further drawings, you'll be able to see that I draw her without a tailbone and with slightly different proportions. But while I succeeded in making her look different, I sacrificed too much of her humanity. I'm close, though.

Meh, if it took us a few thousands year to have the fur crawl up onto the top of our heads, I'd say that Vigil still has that human trait intact. And no tailbone? Darn, that will certainly be interesting to see.

I too like my alien approach, but I feel that I went a little too far. Now, her face is a mask that shows not emotion. I'll have to tinker with it a bit. Her divinity is an important aspect to her character, but in other scenes where her more human aspects come through, i'll need some eyebrow action going on.

Thank you ever so kindly. Yes, Vigil did let the proverbial cat out of the equally proverbial bag. I suppose we can see this as her protecting her chief investment -- herself. Assuming she's alluding to a familial connection, I mean. Otherwise she's just being a great big spoiler.

I think the old 'you're always your own harshest critic' line is appropriate here - this is bloody brilliant. I love your ethereal looking Vigil - beautiful - but a bit creepy too - and quite intimidating which is appropriate considering the story. I love the idea that the conversation is completely in their heads, and the different fonts reflecting their personalities.
Finally of course - Vigil's revelation! Wow! Makes perfect sense - but is it true, or is Vigil just ensuring that the Mime stays with the team for the war?

It's good to actually know her name though. That way she actually seems a bit like a person now instead of just an elemental force. Which is also nice.
