Born to Iniko and Idris of Nguvu, Hana was the second born of twins alongside her brother, Ito. She was always a rebellious, headstrong, and adventurous young cub, a fact that often worried her stretched-too-thin parents. Having been born during somewhat turbulent times - a flood and pandemic occurring during her early life as a cub, and tensions between Nguvu and Mlima brewing when a political alliance was severed.
Despite the uncertainty of the world around her, Hana was foolishly optimistic and curious, venturing out further than she should, taking chances that she figured she could take. She met a rogue male when she was still a teen, Austo, who was of a similar age. He charmed her easy, showering her with gifts and attention whenever she should break away from the pride long enough to go meet him.
She was 3 years old when she was convinced to run away with her mate, however was found out by her parents before she could. Hana admitted to her tryst, but adamantly stuck by it and, eventually, would choose to leave with Austo while her Mother and Father plead with her to stay. They'd come to find a safe spot with a nearby watering hole and decent small game to eat, where she'd settle down with her new mate.
When Hana could not immediately bear him a child, Austo's charm seemed to fade, and he grew colder and more distant in due time. He'd been somewhat of a model husband starting out, but after another year passed without cubs, he'd become bitter and dismissive. Hana was subject to a ridicule and off-hand comments, a thing that was gradually given until one day she realized - this isn't the life she'd wanted, and maybe her parents had been right. However, Austo smelled her regret and resentment and confronted her quickly, trying to keep her with him with more forceful means. Some of her scars coming from the resulting spats.
It was back and forth, their feud, but it it came to a head when he'd given her the scars across her face in a battle. Austo stood over her mercilessly, unbothered by his actions and vehemently demanding he was right before storming away. Her anguish and anger was all consuming, moons upon moons of resentment finally unleashing; so instead of remaining the complacent, optimistic lioness she had once been taught to be, she vowed revenge.
Hana tracked him for a year years, watching and waiting for a moment, her rage never sating with time. She'd sworn to get revenge for actions and prevent another lioness from meeting the same fate. So, when the day came and Austo had appeared weak with a seasonal sickness, she would approach him while he slept, and would slay him there with a ripping bite to his throat. Her victory was short lived, as though she had gotten her revenge, it felt largely hollow at the end. Since, she's been wandering the unclaimed lands, unsure of what she should do next, and feeling like it's too late to go home to Nguvu.
GROUP HISTORY
In the pit of her boredom and apathy she comes to meet two Nguvu teens. After a tense first encounter and soon tearful exchange with her newfound siblings, she finds a peace together together with them, agreeing to return. Even if she was initially wary to their proposal for her to rejoin Nguvu, she relents and says she will give it a try.
After some time following the passing of her mother, Iniko, she communicates to her siblings that she'd be departing Nguvu for a time in search of their relatives that they'd lost, wanting to reconnect the rest of the lost blood. In her travels out, she stops by Ustamilivu where she meets Wajanja, a respectful and strong hybrid male. Despite her advancing age, she had long since decided that she desired to be a mother again, especially after years of healing and being in a place where she felt comfortable with it. With his agreement, Wajanja would become the donor to her future leader.
While still within range of Ustamilivu, she meets Asafa, a supposed son of one of her aunties. He reveals that Kenzi of Mlima is his sister, though they've been estranged for some time and their mothers had passed from old age long ago by then. Satisfied with this information, she informs him of their family in Nguvu. With that said, she plans to head out towards Mlima following her connection with Wajanja.
Eventually she makes her way to Ustamilivu to meet with Kenzi, finding that she has a wife and 6 cubs of her own. She is delighted in a way to see them thriving and, after leaving them with the information that they have family across the pride - should they ever need them - is content to return home. Once back within Nguvu, she gives birth to her one and only cub, Sana, with Wajanja visiting for the birth and initial weeks (though he comes and goes to visit his son often, which Sana appreciated). After she was fit to be active again, she rejoins Nguvu officially, returning as a Huntress, and settles into a quiet life of motherhood and pride-duty, which eases her weary and bruised heart.
Through raising Sana and forming connections with others within the pride, she finds peace with her past and bathes in being surrounded by community - and one that cares about her, no less. As she is aging by this point, she doesn't take long to retire almost a year later, relenting to her aching bones and leaving the work to the younger folk.
