Description: Also called Stitchers, Legions, or Frankensteins, the Patchwork Men represent a worrying advancement in the creation of undead. They are constructed from the disparate body parts of numerous corpses, which are then stitched together to form a towering golem. Held together with stitches and wires and animated by electrical and alchemical processes, some claim them to be simple automata rather than any true undead. Indeed, they are often made with benign intentions from alleged “benign” necromancers and necroalchemists, as a servile labor force or an implacable military unit. Indeed, many a Patchwork Man is outfitted with inbuilt armor and weaponry, such as wrought iron armblades, motive carapace armor, and imposing death masks. The final product is strong enough to batter aside lines of lesser men, cleave a horse in two and even wrestle a lesser drake into the dirt. Nonetheless, their necromantic nature is apparent in that the construction requires awareness of forbidden soul magic. And how souls affect Patchwork Men is a cruel one. Lingering soul vestiges remain in each stolen limb and organ, leading the final golem to be host to tens and in some cases hundreds of wailing souls, each warring for control of a body it does not recognize. Nearly every example of these beasts goes mad and breaks its shackles, becoming roaming rampaging threats that need entire companies of men and magic to be put down.
