Forgotten Archlich.
Name: Lich
Type: Undead
Class: Corporeal
Sapience: High
Description: Liches represent an advanced form of undeath and a mastery of the necromantic arts. The path to lichdom is personalized to every practitioner, with no two prospective liches subject to the same path. It is a foul rarely recorded ritual that leaves many aspirants dead and many more warped into horrors. Those who succeed are granted a form of immortality and power most profane. With dark weathered skin that draws tight to their bones, and a gaunt or skeletal visage, their frail appearance belies an utter mastery over dark magic, able to wrench entire souls away, command the very cold and shadows themselves, and a deep understanding of crafting flesh and bone in raising more advanced necromantic constructs. The nature of their immortality is the separation of their soul into a chamber known as a phylactery kept separate from the body. So long that the phylactery remains intact, a lich can survive even complete disintegration and banishment, reanimating from total destruction. To fell a lich requires the destruction of this soul chamber, a threat the creatures are all too aware of, often hiding away their phylacteries in remote locations and constructed from exotic materials and formations. Those on the path of even higher mastery, such as demiliches and archliches, go a step further, forming their phylacterial chambers from spatial fabric and hiding them away in entire pocket dimensions. To combat these zeniths of necromancy requires the holiest and most arcane practitioners, such as an archmage or archon, with entire armies at their beck and call.
