Created in 1965AE by the Samson Arms Company the Samson service rifle was adopted as the main rifle for both vale and Mantle chambered in 762x51 storm rounds the service rifle was seen as an upgrade to the Wilson company’s Folsom rifle developed during the Great War chambered in 20 round magazines compared to the folsoms fifty rounds the Samson had less rounds but more stopping power, the a1 variant was adopted in 1965AE but in 1966AE the A2 variant was adopted as both army and marine units complained the A1s wood furniture warped and rotted easily within the climate of mistral and vacuo, the A2 was succeeded by the a3 in the 80s and was seen alongside the M45 pulse rifle and Walt m4 carbine in mantles military arsenal well into the latter half of the 20th century before being retired in 2001AE with the full adoption of the Folsom m60, the service rifle itself has seen its use through the conflicts such as the Faunus war, Operation Just Cause, the Vytal Fall conflict and even today the service rifle alongside the Folsom rifle of the Great War is seen in use by menageries desert rangers and occasional the wood furniture variant can be seen in the hands of white fang
