Description Part 2 of my Yuko Ogura series. Reference used. Took me two months later before I can bring myself to work on another piece. XD Done in Painter 7. Screenshot of work in progress [link] with the reference picture on the side. Thought I'd post it so you can see what the original looks like.

Dunno when I'll work on Part 3 XD

WOW!!!! Painter 7...! I have a super old painter (Fractal 5.0 )version....probably that's why I cannot get amazing results....! Anyway, congratulations, I really loved your work!!! All the best!

I didn't do anything special, it was just paint blend paint blend. You can probably get very similiar effects by experimenting with your version. By the way, the latest painter version is painter 9, and i'm two version behind too

ye gods, you've done it again. it looks great.
I've always admired you for your ability with hair and skin tones, and yeesh, this has copious amounts of both. one of these days I'm going to have to tie you to a chair and beg you (I'm too nice to torture ) to tell me how you do that.

its very very good!!

one critique: the neck is a little bit small, may be the angle, but it doesn't look quite right.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

coffingirl In reply to moredena [2004-04-29 03:27:18 +0000 UTC]

It's just the angle. The reference is about the same.

My gosh, the way you did the hair is just absolute stunning! I like how you blurred all the rest of the picture, to put emphasis on her face. Very lovely, and really well-done!

I hafta agree withr ranvier...starting from her neck it starts to get all blury...but that's also the reference pic's fault ^-^;;

Looks great nonetheless. You did a great job with the hair!

coffingirl In reply to Drakenborg [2004-04-29 03:40:23 +0000 UTC]

Apply the color with 2B pencil or Simple Watercolor brush then use the blender brush to smooth the colors together in Painter 7.

Oh yeah, kinda late, here is a [link] of a few screenshots and some explaination of my process of painting hair. Dunno if you are interested, but in case

Drakenborg In reply to coffingirl [2004-06-16 08:40:54 +0000 UTC]

that is ok. It is very interesting to see how others do it I have tried out several ways of drawing hair and I am working on a new one, but I like them all, it really depends on what you are drawing, if it is upclose, one kind works the best, but as you go furter away from the hair, others work better, if you understand how I mean?!
