Description This particular image is another oldie I did. Back in 2005 (that's right, 2005), I had a story idea pop into my head for what could be a feature film and potentially a new series set in the "Knight Rider" universe called "Knight Rider: Legacy" (the title is a reference to THE Knight Rider Companion book of the same name by Joe Huth).

At that time I came up with the idea, I was looking at the 2005 Ford Mustang as being the new body for the Knight Industries Two Thousand. A lot of fans were displeased with the idea when I had posted about the idea for the series at the Knight Rider Online, primarily because that the short-lived "Team Knight Rider" was composed of vehicles by the Ford Motor Company and not Pontiac vehicles like the original KITT was. But, I stuck to my guns in my opinion that KITT should be a 2005 Ford Mustang (and surprisingly enough, years later, KITT for the new "Knight Rider" series was a current Ford Mustang, a Shelby Mustang at that). I was lucky enough to find a picture of a black Ford Mustang that looked like it could be KITT. I kept the picture mainly as it was for one sole reason: When it came to the original KITT even though it had advanced technology on the inside, on the outside, it had minor modifications and was, primarily, looking as if it was a typical car. So, the modifications you see to the Mustang in the picture was within the picture itself, making the Mustang both stand out and still retain it's "one of many" appearance that would allow for an extraordinary vehicle like KITT to blend in for stakeouts.

For the alterations I made to the picture, it not only includes the scanner light being added, but the tires with the hub caps (which are iconic to KR fans) are taken from a picture of a KITT replica. I felt it was necessary to do what I did with the tires as a means of reflecting back to the original KITT (in the story idea I had, the parts of KITT, such as his original voice box and dashboard, was incorporated into the Mustang).

For the idea for the series would have been simple. The story would have taken place after the events in the "Knight Rider 2000" TV movie and incorporates the events in "Team Knight Rider" into the timeline as well (the only "Knight Rider" project that would not be involved is "Knight Rider 2010", for obvious reasons). It would have involved Sean Knight, the son of Michael Knight, following in his father's footsteps by joining the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG), his first mission being more of an act of vengeance after his father is paralyzed from the waist down by three ex-military personel who have stolen information from Knight Industries for the black market. After seeing the movie "Cellular", I had pictured Chris Evans playing the role of Sean Knight (the picture of Mr. Evans is from a promotional still for the movie "Cellular"). I've been a long time fan of Sandrine Holt, so naturally, I had a character in mind for her as the mechanic who helps Sean incorporate the Knight Industries Two Thousand into his 2005 Ford Mustang (the picture is a screencap from the first episode of the TV series "Once a Thief"). David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, naturally (this was the only good "recent" picture I could find, which I downloaded off the web). And William Daniels, obviously, as the voice of KITT (since Mr. Daniels only did the voice of KITT, no picture except for the car, was needed for him).

For the first story in the series, I saw it as a "film", I thought of Ridley Scott because he would know how to balance the story in a way to make it about the characters, including KITT (since Scott directed "Blade Runner", it seemed like the best choice for such a story idea). Granted, this poster isn't really 100% poster like, I think it conveys the idea of what I was thinking of for the story.

I tried to start this off as a fan fiction series, but due to being busy with other projects, it never got off the ground. But still, I felt it was necessary to share this. Another oldie, but goodie. :) (Smile)
