Syi's expression shifts like dancing flames over her face, relief, anger, sorrow, joy, and above all the others exhaustion. Pulling at her second hand clothes she tries to straighten herself up, setting her quivering jaw.

'Why?' Her voice trembles. 'Did you forget about me?'

'I waited...'

'Why did you never come back?'

A fresh sheet of tears rolls down her cheeks, still she keeps her head held high, determined to meet your gaze.

*quickly takes her hands,locking our fingers together n looking her dead in the eye* I never forgot about you I would never forget about you *begins to tear up myself,on my knees as my emotional begins to crack* I was threatened many times,I've tried to send you so many messages but they wouldn't go thru *my hands gently hold her cheeks,holding gaze in mine as tears run down my face* Syi,I wanted come back....so much.

Syi shivers in your embrace not sure what to think. The country she had fled from was always in a state of turmoil, at least with the larger more civilized areas. It had never touched her small village, but she had heard stories.

Humans were rare here, and the stories that surrounded them were two parts terror one part mystical. Perhaps that was why she had felt drawn to him when he first arrived at the edge of her village.

She was still mad at him though, despite the embrace that caused her to want to melt into his arms. It had been over a year sense she had seen him and now, niw there were just so many feelings.

'I have so much to tell you...' was all she could manage, pulling you closer. 'Jack...'

With a mixture of relief and pain Syi begins her tale. 'When you let me, I started looking for you, but no one seemed to know where you had gone.'

Drawing in a deep breath, she sivers.

'I returned to my village, only...my father, he had found out, and he... he was angry.'

'We fought. He..was enraged the I broke with my bethothal pack. The village ,was so much anger.'

Syi is silent for a long time, head bowed she avoids looking at you.

'I...ran from them.' Her voice breaks and with a surprising jolt she bounds from the couch pacing back and forth. 'I ran, and ran, and ran. I rode the Iron train, but they forced me off... Your Cties, they are populated by cruel mammals. I did not understand their speech, they said I was a Sa'vage. But would not explain.'

Something of a shadow flickers over her face and her mouth opens as though to say something but stops.

There was so much more he did not know, of the promises and curses thrown at her back as she fled. The terrors of the concert jungle around her. And the strange mammals that populated it.

Even in Jack's arms she still wanted to flee to run away from this place and take hum with her.

'Jack, I - hold me Jack, like you did that night in our tent. Hold me, and tell me it will be right Jack.

From behind you, Nera clears her throat.

'Maybe I can help...'

Nera looks at you two, 'I wish it were that simple.' Then turning to Syi she clicks out several sentences in an unfamiliar language.

Syi's ears perk and she all but snaps her head at Nera.

Nera smiles as Jayde relaxes in your arms. 'I just offered her some needed reassurances. In her own tongue.'

Her grun widens at your shocked expression. 'What, you thought I may be simple? Amenii and I shared a collage. That and I did study abroad.'

In your arms, Syi's nervous tension ebbs a bit. She is still having a great deal of trouble with this world she has moved into, but the edge of her frantic stress has been blunted.

'Friends?' Syi's eyes linger on Nera and then go to Amenii. There is something of a narrow suspicion there but she does not give voice to it.

Clearing her throat, Amenii steps up.

'Its been a pretty wild day, perhaps you and Ms. Syi would like to bunk here for tonight? We can roll out a spare bed for you.'

Nera does not seem to like the idea at first, but just shrugs looking pointedly at the clock, indicating it's late hour.

Syi, fidgiting mummles something about having no were else to go into your chest.

Another flicker of emotional turmoil crosses Syi's face, but she looks away to quickly for you to get a good grasp of what she is feeling. Nodding silently she presses herself to you. The warmth of her fur seeping through your tightly pressed bodies.

'Amenii, would you be a dear and get the pillows and extra blanket for our gusts please?' Nera calls out, as she begins to break down the couch into an extendable bed. 'Their on the top shelf on the right side of the hall.'

One small avalanche of blankets and pillows later, along with one squished bun...

'There now.'

Nera, guiding Amenii back to their own bed, 'Jack, we will be just down the hall if you need anything.' And with that dims the lights, leaving you and Syi in the darkness.

Syi eyes the bed, the door behind which Amenii and Nera has vanished, and then to you. Moving with a sensual grace of a dancer she pulls her her scarf off and lets it fall the the floor, revealing her fur is ruffled there, but whatever happened is hidden underneath her painted coat.

'Jack Axe Well...' She begins, tugging her breeches and letting them slip down over her powerful legs. Her oversized sweater hanging down just enough to conceal her form. 'Where is Syi to begin?'

With a flash of rage, Syi flings the breeches across the room to hit the wall with a dull thump. The other two occupants of the apartment do their best to ignore this. Breathing heavily, Syi's eyes narrow to slits as she rounds on you.

'Jack left me!' She hisses between clenched teeth. 'You vanished without word! Syi looked for you, Syi asked all around, and no one knows where Jack has gone.'

Hands balling into fists she looks like she wants to claw something, or someone. Chest heaving with her deep breaths, she rounds on you. 'I searched, I thought you had been kidnapped, drugged, stolen, hunted...I - I wept each night I could not find you...'

Her emotions bubbling over, tears well up in her eyes as her voice quavers.

'Syi was taken, forced to go back to my village, forced to go before my father. Alone!' Hands shaking, she grinds her claws into the palms of her hands. 'He was furious with Syi! He tired to keep me locked away! Said I would never see anyone, never again! He said you were - you were - Laracka Ve!'

Spinning on her heal, she storms around the room, sporadically snarling at the air.

'And so Syi fled. Escaped in while the moon was full, I fled the place I called home...' The pain at leaving her home behind slows her pacing. But only for a bit. 'And I ran, Jack Axe Well.' She bights off each word. 'I ran, and ran, and ran. I begged for help... I had to scavenge for food, and all around your people, they treat me like I am animal!'

Her voice cracks again, becoming very quiet now.

'But Syi never stopped asking. 'Have you seen Jack? Please, I am looking for Jack...'' Something very dark crosses her expression, and she squares off against you, positioning herself with her hands on her hips. 'And...then one day...I hear a story...About a man called Jack. Lucky Jack, they call him. Lucky Jack who runs off on grand adventures. Lucky Jack and his camera. Lucky Jack who fears nothing! Lucky Jack who steals women's hearts in the dead of night...'

For a long minute, Syi just stares at you, her whole body shaking while she tires to form her next words.

'Jack never came back...'

Spinning on her heal, she erupts into a wave of uncontrollable tears and runs out the door into the snowy street.

Not used to the wet snowy conditions, and having no experience with ice before, Syi missteps sending her sprawling chest first to the slush covered ground. Legs kicking out, one of her thrusts catches you ankle sending you down on top of her!

'Get off!' Get off! Get off!' Syi screams, half mad with grief, as she tries to claw her way out from under you. 'Help!'

Rolling onto her back, even as you move to restrain her, her hand reels back claws exposed as she prepares to make a swipe at your face, hesitates, and finally, gives in. Falling back onto the wet cold snow, she weeps, her eyes closes as her body convulses in her sorrow.

Between sobs and incoherent mumbling, Syi fights against you, slows and stops. Her hands move to hold you against her, crushing you to her despite the cold and wet around you.

With a barely audible whisper, she manages to speak.

'Promise me you will not leave me again Jack.' She whispers, 'Promise.'

Shaking with the effort of holding you, she pulls your head down and wraps her lips around yours, kissing you passionately. Claws digging into your back she coils her legs around your abdomen pulling you closer to her. With a great effort she breaks the kiss long enough to look up at you through tear stained eyes, 'I...I love you Jack... I love you, I love you I love you.' Pulling you back down she shakes as the snow falls around you. 'Don't leave me Jack. Please, don't ever leave me.'

The trip back leaves both you and Syi soaked from the half melted snow, and the wrestling on the sidewalk. From outside the window a patrol car dose a drive by, but can not find the two vagrants in question, though a description is uploaded to the database.

Inside, Syi does not speak, but nestles herself into your embrace, arms tightly closed around you.

I had been sitting on that piece for a while, sense it was a lost story, I had some reservations about bringing back Syi. But seeing how you two share a bond I saw fit to have her seek you out, given your history together. It feels good to rekindle old emotions, pieces that touch one's inner feelings, and it opens a world to explore with Syi again. Again, if you are interested.
