Description The Fox Fire

Amenii moved with a delicate grace through the clubs ballroom floor, spinning bodies in colorful dress, and lack of dress moved around her. A tiger glad in a silk sash around his waist, and nothing else from the look of him was embracing a leopard with even less.

A cluster of bunnies to her right draped in flowing gowns of red accented with gold trim eyed her as she moved by, several making tittering gestures, while another bit delicately on one finger. With A smile she hoped was not to forces, Amenii wove around them, trying to keep a polite distance.

This is what I get for requesting a reassignment, she though darkly.

When she had filed that request with Yaro, she knew he had something planed for her the second that ugly smile twisted across his face.

‘Why of course, Officer Oakwoods, if you are feeling your talents are being misused by my department, I have no problem loaning you out to my colleague in Tundra Town for special assignment.’

She had hoped for city center, if she could plead her case to Bongo himself, maybe even get Judy to help her, she could get out from under Yaro’s thumb. That dream, like so many others had blown up in her face on the first day.

Her Special assignment, as best she could tell was to walk around in a ridiculous outfit, that showed off way more than she would like, and prance around a club that was known to walk the line of legal conduct anywhere in Zootopia. T

The Fox Fire, was not a place she wanted to be seen in, though under all the makeup that decorated her face, she was sure no one recognize her outside of the club doors. Tonight she was dressed as a brilliant green dragonfly outfit, with wings so thin she was afraid a casual brush of a stranger would break them. No one had on the team had yet to tell her what she was looking for, or why.

Twisting to avoid an elephant who had clearly had one to many drinks, she collided head first into a wolf she had not seen. Before she could slip back into the crowed, his pawed hand closed around her writs.

‘Pardon me, my lady.’ His voice was oil and courtesy, but his grip was firm and unyielding. ‘I, I don’t believe we’ve met before.’

Amenii wanted nothing more than to fade into the wall, the floor, anywhere. ‘Excuse me,’ Dropping her gaze, ‘One to many.’

‘Of course.’ The wolves oily tone drawled as his hand gave her wrist a feathered caress that made her skin crawl. She could feel his eyes moving over her, and it took all her restraint to not bolt, after all, there were rules in the Fox Fire, and to run now would expose her.

‘And what have you found here?’ A voice came from behind her captor, as a white wolf with a scarlet dress materialized on his right. ‘Should I be jealous -or where you going to share?’ the wolf added in a husky whisper.

The urge to flee redoubled.

‘I, I really should – be going.’ Amenii managed, tugging her arm free as politely as possible, turning, she spun around and nearly lost her footing. Behind her loomed a second she wolf, black as night, and with piercing blue eyes. Before she could react, a pawed hand feathered her rump. ‘Oh!’

‘Oh,’ The newest arrival mocked her. ‘But you just got here.’

They were moving around her, like a pack, hunting, cutting off her escape. The old instincts died hard, in predators especially.

Show no fear. Show no fear. Show no fear, she repeated as they circled.

‘Silk, please, your scaring her.’ The males voice broke the growing tension, ‘Come.’

Looking as though she had just been denied her favorite toy, the one called Silk moved to the gray wolf’s side, where he slid a restraining arm around her. ‘My apologies little one, Silk has a tendency to…’ He waved his hand in the air as though looking casually for a world he had just forgotten. ‘…overexert her self at times, and in doing so, forget her manners.’

The hungry look that burned in those cold blue eyes told Amenii more than enough of what she wanted to know. Leisurely, as though nothing had happened, the wolf continued.

‘This little gem to my right, is Sapphire,’ The white wolf gave her a smile that almost reached her eyes. ‘And I have the pleasure of being, Dusk.’ He gave a slight bow as he finished, looking down at her with glittering eyes.

‘A-Uh, Lilly.’ Amenii stammered, ‘Tyger Lilly.’

‘Ty’ger Lilly.’ Dusk’s expression turned smug, and he leaned over to whisper something in Sapphires ear that made her giggle. ‘Tell me, Ty’ger, Lilly. Would you join me – Us, for a drink?’

Amenii knew she was walking on rotten ice, one miss step would be all it took.

‘Thank you, Dusk.’ She added after a thought, ‘But I am expected already.’

Keep it vague, just enough make it sound as though she knew what the rules of the Fox Fire were. For a moment, she thought he would call her out on her lie, as his eyes roamed over hers, something deep within stirred making her shiver.

‘A pity.’ Dusk said after a tense few seconds. ‘But, should you find yourself free afterwards.’ He produced a small business card and slipped it to her. Instinctively Amenii reached out and took it, as she did, his hands closed around hers, allowing him to lean inches from her face.

‘I’ll always be willing to make time for you.’ He all but purred, ‘Always.’

And then he was gone.

The Pit in Amenii’s stomach churned, threating to engulf her.

Special assignment, right.

…

A week later The Fox Fire was shut down, the board of health and safety had apparently found the building not up to code. Though Amenii only found out about it while scanning the newspaper, no mention of undercover police work was mentioned.

C.S. Notes: And here we have a glimpse into the daily life of Officer Oakwoods, currently working under Lt. Yaro of the Rain forest district. As you can clearly see she is not having that good of a time. :P (Lick)
