Description
Amenii wasn't the only bunny on that ship...Her name is: Mayko (Mahn-ee-Koh, and her story begins here:
The Darkness
Mayko’s chest heaved as the revival process kicked in, drawing in a deep breath she forced herself to relax and control her shaking body. It was just part of the process, it was normal, running her hand over the soft padding she drew reassurance from the familiar textures there.
An audible hiss proceeded the cracking of the pod and as the canopy slid away Mayko knew something was wrong.
The air was hot and humid, sticky, that was her first warning that something had gone very wrong. Drawing in a deep breath she tried to calm her racing mind, it would not do to upset the computer’s revival process now. Her throat was ash, and it took several swallows before she could manage to speak without choking on her words.
‘Mother- are you there?’
She waited. The ships artificial intelligence was silent.
‘Mother?’
Mentally Mayko ran down the list of possible problems that could result in the ships life support malfunctioning and shutting down of the primary computer. The results were not good.
Rolling onto her side her hand found the lip of the pod, and just under it, her stick. Looping the worn leather rung over her wrist she slipped out and began to feel around her.
Ripples, uneven textures, loose objects. There were so many of them, all at random scatterings. This place was a mess. Had there been an attack? Were the intruders still here?
‘Hello?’ Mayko whispered, this time keeping her voice down. Only silence responded. Ears twitching she listened intently, the ships normal functions, the great hum of the drive engines, the click of air recycling, even the slight tremors through the deck, all gone. It felt alien to her, like she was walking on a dead beast that had once been so alive.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
She moved further out, one, two, three paces to the door, the control is on the right. Hand running down the seam of the door she found the controls and pushed the central button. With a hydraulic hiss of protest the door came open and the stench came in. Recoiling Mayko gaged as the putrefying smell rolled over her assaulting her senses.
Something had gone wrong here. Terribly wrong.
Tap… tap… tap…
Throat dry despite the humidity she moved through the ship, she needed to get to the bridge, to find the crew, find out what happened. If there were any survivors, maybe the ship had crashed… The though made her shiver, alone on an alien planet. Alone.
‘Hello.’ She tried again. Not expecting a response this time.
From somewhere before her a rapid, thumping noise resided and then fell silent. Metal on…something heavy. What she could not say.
‘Hello? It’s me Mayko… David, is that you?’
Above something wet and sticky dripped down upon her.
‘David?’

Being blind isn't the best, being blind and on a ship with a alien that has evolved to kill everything is just a little bit worse.

Oh so true! O.O
The horror of waking up out of stasis to being hunted by a vicious predator that you can't see is down right nightmarish by nature.

Game play and enemies, yes. Not as pretty or open though as ACM, but the enemies there were terrible AIs

Well there's no way to find out until... the alien grabs her and drags her off to be impregnated by a face hugger and it burst forth in a horrible fashion!

Creepy.
Me like!!
David must drip on her a lot.
I don't think the Xeno would take her.
She's blind. It's suggested the Xeno facehugger uses the host as the next form. Example the dog type.
This might produce a blind Xeno.
A defective alien.
Useless.
She would however make great bait like Newt.
The again it has not been said the alien sees with any eyes.

That's the question...does the Alien know she is blind? And would her other senses that have been heightened would that balance out the equation and therefore make her a more valuable target?

Yeah, it's hinted that xenos use echolocation. (possibly, which I think it's a mix of that and something else.)

I can agree. My thought was more toward bio electric. They can see our nervous system.
And probably some other sensing systems to fall on if one does not pick it up like echo location.

They are the perfect predator.
Adapting as needed.
Taking the best parts of the species they infect creating a better predator.
Only one drive........create the next generation.
Working collectively with no selfishness.
