Words Below:
Dior put on his virtual goggles and got ready to play Creature Photo Chase, one of the games from Virtual Worlds Unlimited. The rules were fairly simple. All players were placed in a village at the edge of a virtual jungle. They would have sixty seconds to take as many pictures of virtual creatures as they could. Point value of a photo would be based on things like number of creatures in the photo, rarity of each creature, what each creature was doing. Whoever had the most points at the end would be the winner.
Dior selected his character, a teenage girl with brown hair, brown eyes, and an adventurous attitude. The look of his character was mostly aesthetic but he wanted to make sure everything was right. One that was done, he selected the environment he wanted to try. He was placed in the village with a bunch of virtual avatars waiting for the game to start. They would only know him by his female avatar.
As soon as the game began, several people wanted to group with "her". Dion thought it was best to take advantage of multiple minds and joined them. They made their way through the virtual jungle. Occasionally they would split up to see which path was best. One of them discovered a watering hole where many creatures were gathered. They silently crept towards their location hoping not to distract them.
They were working together to increase their chances, but there could only be one winner. Once they selected their spot it came down to whoever could take the best picture. Dion got five creatures in one shot. He was not sure how rare they were but he thought five was quite impressive.
Someone else got seven. One of them was super rare. Dion was not going to win. He never thought that he would. He just wanted to see how many points he could get.
The first group of creatures left the watering hole but they remained where they were. After a few minutes a second of creatures arrived. Dion took a picture. He was immediately informed he received an achievement for photographing his first rare creature. The rest of the group congratulated "her" for "her" success.
It looked like Dion was going to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack with being new and being in a quality group roughly cancelling each other out. Towards the end of the sixty minutes they headed back to the village. They did not want to be penalized for turning their photos in late.
Near the village, Dion was able to take one last photo as some creatures flew overhead. About the same time another in his group took a picture of "her". It was not worth any points but that was not the point of the picture. Dion wanted to see the photo too. He was curious how his avatar looked in action.
