I love revealing the pasts of characters. The future is always so explored, but rarely the past. And I am a horrible, despicable person for loving to draw these characters as cute little kids, and amplifying the absolute tragedy their lives shall eventually take.

Also, I honestly wasn't trying to draw one of characters again, but somehow while trying to draw a compassionate and motherly prostitute, the character that emerged really really looks her dwarf character, so I am pretty much said fudge it, added the mole and I inspiration credit to Rooster. Though I am not sure she is anywhere near a dwarfs proportion, hard to gauge next to a little elf child.

The devil's in the details and I love that you added the little curl of the toes that kids so often do when they're trying to sit still.

Baby Zevran is so cute! I wanna hug him and take care of him and I am not at all the motherly type. Good job. If you can and feel like it, draw more baby Zevran pics, there aren't enough around.

It does, but I like to believe there was at least one woman who watched over him, cared about him. Otherwise I would imagine it be easier and cheaper to just give him to the chantry to be put up for adoption, then raising a child to the point his worth was obvious to the Crows.

I just imagined they raised him as they usually would do with other women's children and sold them when they had age enough to be valuable (as servants or so). Which seemed quite likely with elves, anyway
They should even keep some of them if they were pretty enough... And this is a hard thought but I guess life in a medieval brothel must be hard too...

Very touching! You know, a lot of the fanfics that do his early years paint the whores as cruel, but I'm not convinced that's how it would happen either. I would think there would be a 50/50 split. I would also think that, rather than allowing them to be beaten mercilessly and scarred, any madam would want a promising elf to be protected at least until of age to sell them. I know, horrible thought, but I don't know why everyone always depicts them as being horribly beaten and starved when they have value.
So, I really like your take on his past, and I love the way you drew it.

Agreed, while not everyone will be nice (any group has its good people and bad), but outright cruel? The owner of the whorehouse probably doesn't appreciate the extra mouth to feed, but I would imagine there is a type of honor system amongst the women to protect each other and their kin. Otherwise they could have easily sent him out into the streets.

I completely agree. In my fanfic I had it that they took care of him until the Crows came one day wanting payment (I see them as a mafia sort payment for protection kind of thing) and they had nothing else, but Zevran to give to them. He kind of went willingly so that the Crows wouldn't hurt the women that had cared for him. I love this because it's just like I saw him in my mind as a kid in the whorehouse. You know by that look on his face he's just thinking of someway to get into trouble.
