Description
Moments after jettisoning its spent SRBs, the Boeing EELV also drops the thrust structure they attached to. This structure provides mounting points for the boosters, attachment to the launch pad, and aerodynamic protection of the bulbous engine pod on ascent. After booster separation, it is no longer needed
