i would have started the tail lower than where it is.. when you look at a rat, the tail is right above its butt!
and the white lines would look nice right under the black lines on the inside of the tail..
it's really good though.. i love the way his head came out

Yeah, I thought about it too but if I did that I think the tail wouldn't have the same "drop down from the body and lay on the paper"-effect if you know what I mean? But yeah, I totally agree, if it was supposed to be more "realistic" it should've been further down
Just like on the rest of the picture, right? xD
I don't have any awesome pencil to just put white with though ;(

well the way to achieve that effect is more by the angles that the tail produces..
wow, i'm starting to sound like my art course teachers.. i've never had an art teacher before that!
well i think the rest of the picture was perfectly fine
for making white, either you can use a different colour paper and use a white colour pencil, or most news agents sell white paint pens..

love the eyes.. but the tail comes from nowhere.. also on the tail, maybe white lines under the black to add to the depth and texture?

The tail comes out from his back? ^^, Where and how would you put his tail?or is it more the shadowing around it and the lines around it that makes it look like it comes out from nowhere?
White lines under the shaded black or under the line art? :3
