HHYGFOY*EIGDLIUOGWEVLIYWFVL. ...I dislike Near greatly. He's adorable, but I don't like him. But, someone awesome (not on deviantART as far as I know) requested I draw Near, so I did. I kinda used a reference, but barely, so I'm not going to link it.Anyways, it's kind of a fail at life, but let me know what you think. =w=

He has the same opinions on the note, Kira and killing as such as I do. He is clever, calm, quiet and cute. He can forgive. He plays. His style fits me.
Why do you find him annoying?

Yeah, I can see why you like him, you remind me of him. Not meaning I find you annoying. ._.
I find him annoying because he doesn't have a personality, he copied L so exactly that there's nothing about him that makes him unique; he's too perfect, he doesn't have to try at anything, he's like a god damn robot; he's just generally irritating. He pisses me off, always has.

To be honest, when I watched DN for the first time I was worried Near would be a cheap copy of L, but I was pleasantly surprised. There are some similarities, but Near is quite different from L. It is natural he wants to do things like his idol, after all, he was raised to be his successor, but he still gives a whole different feeling. I like him for his more gentle and playful approach.
I can understand different people will get a different feeling of various charas, but I cannot understand why people don't like someone who is perfect, saying he is too perfect. Isn't it a nonsense like a round square?

I suppose it depends on who you ask, since everyone has an opinion on Near. Most people either love him, hate him, or just don't care about him at all. I personally still think he's a cheap copy of L; I just don't see how he's original. It's one thing to look to your idol's decisions for guidance, but he bases everything on what L would do, he's never creative or original.
He is too perfect. It isn't humanly possible. He doesn't have to try for anything, he's just immediately exceptional at whatever he chooses to do. It's impossible to relate to him in that way, he's just so perfect that it's annoying.

I personally find him awesome for being so perfect. It is something I look up to very much.
I would mind if he was arrogant about it but he is not, he is willing to help others and values even those less gifted than him, as long as they are good.

I suppose so, but in the sequel manga, he refused to take on the new Kira case, because it didn't interest him. He let people die because their killer did not interest him. L would have done the same thing, of course, and he only made that decision based on L's past decisions. But I wouldn't go as far as to say that he would necessarily help others as long as they are good, as he let many innocent people be killed because the case bored him.

Can you really blame him for not taking a case that doesn't interest him? Every detective does that. If they weren't interested in them, they wouldn't do their work properly.

I suppose so. And no, I never said I blamed him, I just said you shouldn't give him such accolades for doing things for people just because they're good when he doesn't if they don't interest him.
