Actually, bears do not TRULY hibernate under the accepted scientific definition because their body temperature doesn't drop and they can reasonably easily be roused from sleep. Many temperate habitat rodents, on the other hand, such as species of ground squirrels and marmots DO truly hibernate because they're body temperature drops to ALMOST the surrounding environmental temperature and their bodies practically become frozen stiff! Plus, they must 'defrost' to be awakened.
