Just Juggernaut standing there, sans helmet, looking evil. This started out as copy work, but it ended up being just reference for his uniform, features, etc.Comic books are the BEST drawing textbooks out there. If you want to draw one of the characters, you can find them at a variety of angles and poses and expression. Great stuff.
Gah. Fear my crappy coloring of death! It looks like a coloring book. I need to take more care coloring after sketching and inking.

Well, I rather have Juggy remain a villian. Heros need villians like him. As far as your comment about comics as a drawing reference. Its only good if the artist your looking at knows his/her anatomy. And even still, they do exaggerate and take short cuts when convienent. So I still recommend checking out anatomy books. I've had some before but never actually read them, just looking at the picture was good enough for me. I'm more of an observer than a reader

Juggernaut is an AWESOME bad guy. Especially since everyone has the urge to smash and stomp on things now and then. Heehee, Juggy... now I know what I'll call him.
I do use my dad's old college anatomy textbook for bones and muscle and all that good stuff; I just use the comics for poses and stuff, because they show movement much more than the textbooks do. And when neither help, I draft my poor helpless family and friends and make them pose for me! Well, they don't let me do that anymore, so I use a mirror or pose myself. Sometimes it makes me look dumb, but it works.

true, I use myself as reference sometimes too. Was never lucky enough to get people to actually pose for me though. Glad to know you actually take time to look at the real stuff. Keep it up and pretty soon, others will be using your pics for reference

No worries. I've been semi-commissioned by one of my friends to do Bobby Drake, and I've been wanting to take a shot at Kurt or Jean-Paul, so you very well might be seeing so X-men fanart going around! I'm making no promises, sadly. Fanart has never been one of my strongest bits.

oh, that's a recent thing, isn't it? i've been able to follow, but i'm so far behind in my reading... the pose and such look familiar... god i is so lame... my x-men reading has finally made it to the late 80's. i really need to take some time and shut myself in a room with my comics for a week or two.

well, let's see, i started collecting in 10th grade, means i was 15, and i only got $10 in allowance every other week... but i was lucky to have a mom who wanted to support what i was into and picked up books once and a while. until i got a job, i had just enough to fit in a 12" long box. i lived at home until i was 20 & now i split the rent and utilities with my sister, and i don't drive so i don't have a car to pay for, so i have disposable income. you'd be surprised how quick they can pile up!
